Re: A question

How about a different approach. Instead of plastic shells how about using styrofoam ones? This will allow cardboard to stay "thin". AeroArt did it with its 1:72 Mustangs, and it's pretty much the norm with 1:18 scale car models nowadays.

Regards,

Sergey

Hi Sergey,

Styrofoam could be more expensive in fact. Some larger aircrafts I think deserve better protection.

Re: A question

I have a vague sense of concern, but not from the perspective of our capacity to purchase as collectors, but rather from the perspective of the long-term economic health of HM. In other words, I always worry that a favored manufacturer (it does not matter what the product is) will expand too rapidly, which will eventually and inevitably result in a contraction. Sometimes manufacturers handle the contraction and move on to continued success, and sometimes they do not.

But, it is a purely subjective perception. I lack any hard data, such as the company itself would have, to be able to make any legitimate critical analysis.

I am happy with the diverse growth of the product line and hope HM is wise in their expansion so they will be around for the long term.

Thank you for your concern.

Indeed development so many items at this rate is difficult. However, our goal is to have those important planes done in a reasonable pace. Hence, if people don't see what is expected in a short time, please give us more time.

Re: A question

In keeping with my gloom-and-doom diecast forecast, I suggest Hobby Master produce as many different models as possible while the sun still shines. I’ve got a hunch diecast will take it in the shorts somewhere down the road, and new diecast product will become a sentimental memory.

So, Hobby Master—please churn out those magnificent models of yours. You’ve definitely won me over; keep those honeys coming.

Re: A question

I do wish HM would cater more to the "collector" with more limited runs and certs with most of, if not all of, their releases but at least they've shown some movement here, as well. (I would still like to see a higher quality cardboard used for the packaging though.)

I think if you look at the latest announcement for releases you'll see 4 out of 7 planes are LE. I know we'll see a fair number of LE in the future as well.

Re: A question

The whole Limited Edition thing is nice but not needed. If you have an issue with one and your late to the scene, your screwed. There are enough comments on this with the CW birds, I'd hate to see the same with HM. For the record, I've only had one bad egg from HM, but the possibility is still there.

I have no problem with the idea of limited runs, but I have never understood the fascination with, or the purpose of, "Certificates of Authenticity."

When I open a new CW or Franklin Mint purchase (or any other brand, for that matter), it never even crosses my mind that I may be holding a counterfeit model, made by Elves in their secret counterfeit workshop south of the border. I have zero concern over that.

And are we to believe that the Certificate of Authenticity is a legally binding document that will prevent a re-issue of that model at a later date? Please tell me no one here actually believes that.

Well, I didn't say COA, just cert, which in the context you quoted meant a card with the number X of XXX stamped on it, which I do like to have simply for the fact that it makes the model feel more "collectible". As for COAs, I don't really care for 'em as like you say, they mean little. When it comes to art prints or something like that, I do like the COA.
