Why not 1/72 Mirage III

The Mirage III is one of the most famous planes of the last forty years. The Mirage III gave place to numerous variants and met a considerable success in the export with 21 user countries and 1 401 constructed copies. But there is no diecast model of the Mirage III. This aircraft was used in several wars (six days war, war of attrition, kippur war, falklands war, indo-pakistan war, angola civil war) israeli top aces, giora epstein won all his victories (17) with the mirahe III or the israeli version the Nesher as many others aces.

Thumbs up Re: Why not 1/72 Mirage III

Simply because it's not American I'm afraid my friend...!

That said, It would be a guaranteed hit worldwide (like the real thing !). It has been such an operational and commercial triumph !

I can't remember though, wich from the Sabre or the Mirage III, holds the current record in number of kills and most favorable kill/loss ratio, for a post-war air superiority fighter... All I know is the next closest one, the Phantom II, is far behind both.

Perhaps could somebody help ?

Re: Why not 1/72 Mirage III

As well as the success of the F-86 for the US in Korea, Taiwanese and Pakistani F-86's were also very successful. One Pakistani F-86 pilot claimed 5 Indian Hunters in 3 minutes! He was awarded the 5 kills, but only 3 for the 3 minutes. His has a total of 9 kills.

Re: Why not 1/72 Mirage III

The Mirage III is another aircraft you have to scratch your head and wonder why it has not already been produced. It is a good looking aircraft with an impressive history.

Brewster Buffalo, Hawk 75A, Fokker D.XXI, Polikarpov I-16, Fiat G.50, Macchi C. 200, PZL P.11c, Fieseler Fi 156 Storch ,,,, now those are real planes.

Especially, when one considers the virtually unlimited variety of paint schemes...!

Re: Why not 1/72 Mirage III

Look at my avatar to the left and sign me up. I want Israeli Mirage III more than any Soviet WWII birds, and this by itself should tell you guys something. Might go for Franklin Mint one despite the fact that it's expensive, big, and the level of detail is not much better than most 1:72 jets.

Regards,

Sergey

Re: Why not 1/72 Mirage III

A Mirage III would be a winner. I would definitely be picking up a few of these if HM releases it.

Did you forget HM as already produced the Mirage 2000, Franklin Mint making the Mirage III in 1/48 & Armour produced Mirages 1/100 scale!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I might add these sell or sold extremely well not just around the globe but also here in the states!!!!
It just gets on my nerves when people try to paint American collectors as ignorant & only wanting nothing but U.S, aircraft, nothing is further from the truth.

Personally I'm a big fan of the Mirage fighter line, I think they were some of the most beautiful jet aircraft ever built.
I'm also a IAF fan & have collected past IAF releases from HM & Witty, a 1/72 Mirage III would be very welcome in my collection.

The Mirage had a outstanding service run in the IAF, but I think it may a close tie between it & the F-15 for best combat record in the IAF.
As far as I know the F-15 had zero combat losses & has shot down much of the Arab Air Forces best equipment & pilots.
I would like to see the cold hard numbers on this if anybody has them.
