Exclamation Re: Why not 1/72 Mirage III

Did you forget HM as already produced the Mirage 2000, Franklin Mint making the Mirage III in 1/48 & Armour produced Mirages 1/100 scale!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I might add these sell or sold extremely well not just around the globe but also here in the states!!!!
It just gets on my nerves when people try to paint American collectors as ignorant & only wanting nothing but U.S, aircraft, nothing is further from the truth.

Personally I'm a big fan of the Mirage fighter line, I think they were some of the most beautiful jet aircraft ever built.
I'm also a IAF fan & have collected past IAF releases from HM & Witty, a 1/72 Mirage III would be very welcome in my collection.

The Mirage had a outstanding service run in the IAF, but I think it may a close tie between it & the F-15 for best combat record in the IAF.
As far as I know the F-15 had zero combat losses & has shot down much of the Arab Air Forces best equipment & pilots.
I would like to see the cold hard numbers on this if anybody has them.

Let's clear the misunderstanding Phantom Phan : My statement about the Mirage III not being American has NOT been aimed at American collectors, but at diecast MANUFACTURERS, who except HM seem to more or less ignore all subjects outside : 1) The USA, 2) Germany, 3) Britain.

THEY are the ignorants !

Do you think I would have been so keen a member of the forum, had I had such a poor opinion of fellow collectors from the other side of the pond ?

Re: Why not 1/72 Mirage III

The Mirage III is too important to ignore for long and IMHO HM are just the company to make it.

Their Mirage 2000 is a beauty however the possibility of such a huge amount of schemes would make the III a winner.

One of my faves from down under... The Aussies operated over 100 of these & manufactured them under licence.

Here is a link to a website that has a heap of images of the RAAF's Mirage III-O's:

Welcome

Take it out and play with it

Re: Why not 1/72 Mirage III

Hi Guys,

The basic hindrance with making the Mirage III is about the license problem.

We need to have this resolved before we can proceed with it.

Re: Why not 1/72 Mirage III

A license problem huh? Well there is another reason not to do it ever. Money hungry !!! That would be enough for me (if I owned a diecast company) not to do it !! Oh well didn't the Isrealis produce their own direct copy? If so, I say do theirs and thumb your nose to the Mirage firm.

William sounds odd. HM did produce Mirage 2000 so what's so special about Mirage III? Shawn is right get the license from IAI for Nesher and Kfir.

Sergey

Well forgive me old friend perhaps I took your statement the wrong way, thank you for clarifying yourself.
I may be a litte quick judge when it comes to such topics, this may be do to some light hearted U.S bashing I get from of my European co works & some customers a few times a week at the airline.
Were all the best of friends, but you know it's a little pride contest we have going on.

Yes, sign me up for a couple. Just think you can place an Argentine Mirage III version next to your British BAE Sea Harrier, A French one next to your existing Mirage 2000, Your IAF next to the Egyptian MIG 21, The possabilities are endless.

Hi Sergey,

IThe "license fee" the original aircraft company is trying to charge is much more than we epxect. Hence, we are still under negotiation on this.

Tell them to eat cake and do the Isreali version. I'd buy one then, and I don't even like delta winged birds.

English not being my native language, I may sometimes express myself in an ambiguous way without noticing it...

I totally understand what you mean : I tend to react similarly to France bashing !

On the other hand, Anglo/French antagonism may also be a form of complicity, that doesn't preclude reciprocal esteem.
