Re: New Sample Photos

I agree also the short time I have had airplanes in our store I have sold more 1/48's than 1/72's..

1/72's that move for us have been the jets and bigger planes..

The price difference from 1/72 to 1/48 has not slowed our sales of 1/48 airplanes...

So Bring on the 1/48 stuff... I would like to see the F-100 done in 1/48 I have always like the theory bigger is better!

Re: New Sample Photos

More "stop with 1:48 and make 1:72 only" whining! Give it a break! There are plenty 1:48 scale collectors that Hobby Master is making "more Happy customers."

I'm glad you rich folks have the money to buy the 1/48's and the mansions to put them in. You can have 'em!

Since everybody is basically saying there is a lot more 1/48's and they've been around longer, how about less whining about people who would like 1/72!

I apologize for us little 1/72 people thinking differently and expressing our opinions to you 1/48 fat cats, but I thought freedom of speech goes both ways.

And business goes both ways, too. If HobbyMaster goes to all 1/48, then they would LOSE a lot of customers who can't afford the bigger planes or have room for them. I just hope HM listens to both opinions.

Re: New Sample Photos

Personally, I'm happy with what I have. If something is put out in 1:48, and I don't want it in 1:48, so be it. I like to enjoy this hobby, so worrying about what is not made in what scale is not my style. Yes, I suppose I have my wants, but they are only that.....wants, not needs.

Very well put Capt'n - you are so right! I usually collect only 1:72 scale, but lately I've gotten 9 SpecCast 1:48 scale Corsairs. I must admit that I like the size, detail, and weight of these larger birds. So now I'll consider buying a 1:48 scale model if it interests me and the price is right.

Re: New Sample Photos

Could it be that way back in the day it wasn't as easy to capture the detail in 1/72nd scale planes as it is today. And thats why 1/48 was the main scale?

Either way I could care less, I'd like a 1/72nd scale version of the F3F. But I wont cry over it not being done. I'll Probably get one or two of these, but I don't have the room for many more.

The Man Cub has a Corgi 1/332(?) Hurricane and I'm not impressed with anything about it. The pilot is crap, the removable panel shows a very weak engine. Aside from the size and weight I don't get the appeal for the size. Maybe its an old man poor eyesight thing. LOL

I don't think you have to worry about Hobby Master dropping 1/72 and going all 1/48. I think there are lots of planes that work better in 1/48 because of their size and then there are those that work well in 1/72 scale. I think you will find that Hobby Master is trying to balance what they produce so both camps are happy. This is just my opinion but who knows, in a year or so they may turn around and make the odd 1/48 model in 1/72 and vice versa. This is just my own speculation.

THANK YOU! Its just that I ONLY collect 1/72 and nothing else. Its easier to display more of them. I think 1/72 is the perfect scale. Its not too big and not too small. its just right.

I only collect 1/72 WW2. I only collect 1/48 WW 1. I find 1/72 perfect for WW 2 and 1/48 perfect for WW 1. The WW 1 planes are smaller and have rigging that is easier to do and looks good in 1/48. I'm really happy we are now getting some between war planes, and 1/48 looks to be a good scale, especially for the likes of the F3F. As from a previous discussion, this seems to be a golden age for diecast and we should make hay while the sun shines. Buy what you like and enjoy it!

Re: New Sample Photos

Just glad there are some really nice products coming out in both 1/72nd and 1/48th scale. Only hope releases are spread out a bit to save on wear and tear of my wallet. I am looking forward to some of the ones that have been advertised so far.

Brewster Buffalo, Hawk 75A, Fokker D.XXI, Polikarpov I-16, Fiat G.50, Macchi C. 200, PZL P.11c, Fieseler Fi 156 Storch ,,,, now those are real planes.

Like many others I began collecting 1:48 and ran out of space so I sold em off and went 1/72. I too feel that 1/48 is a great way to accentuate the beauty and rigging of a WW1 or inter-war airplane although Corgi proved it can be done and done well in 1/72. I prefer bi-planes to be 1:48. I think HM will continue to do models that will please us all in both scales. It may just take some patience on the part of some collectors as they wait until some company makes a bird they want in the scale they want. These are the good ole days and we are collectors on the ground floor. Think about it, look how far larger models have come since the Ertl and Gearbox days. Look how far the models have come since the Ertl Force One days. We are fast becoming a group of very discriminating if not slightly spoiled collectors. As was said in another thread we barely are giving a company time to tweak it's pre-pros before we are screaming for more, different or improved models. We should remember that this is a risky and expensive endeavor for the manufacturers too. They are aware that giving you the top 5 or 6 most famous liveries may not be enough to help them recover marketing and manufacturing costs. That is why we have to be patient and let them make collectors in Argentina,Germany,Egypt,Iran,Greece,India,Pakistan , Syria and a host of other countries happy so that our requests can be honored.
