| Re: New Sample Photos
It is more like a case of a Bf 110 ending up in Switzerland. I have heard it told two ways. First version has it that aircrew inadvertantly landed at Dubendorf airbase in Switzerland, and the second version indicates the German crew actually defected. I have come across a case where another Bf 110 night fighter did make an imergency landing at the same airbase.

Ace of Spades is a great look in 1/72nd scale, should be greater in the larger one as well. But I strongly suggest a wash. Its little brother looks way to clean for a bird with that many mission marks.

| Re: New Sample Photos I just noticed that this new SBD is in 1/32 scale! When I saw the picture and the announcement earlier, I just assumed it was another 1/72 SBD-- seeing the closed canopy and all. But this is great!-- at least I think it is. I suppose my wallet and my wife won't think it's great. But a tri-color SBD-5!-- I have to get one of these! For those that care, a little history on this one----This is the SBD-5 of Major Elmer Glidden, while serving with VMSB-231 in the Marshall Islands in 1944. His tail gunner at this time was M.Sgt James Boyle. Major Glidden was the Marine Corps' leading dive bomber pilot of the war with a total of 104 combat dives (which explains the mission markers on the plane). He had earlier flown SBD's at Midway and Guadalcanal. Like the two previous 1/32 SBD's released by Hobby Master, this particular airplane is a very historic and significant SBD. | |||||||||||||

| Re: New Sample Photos That F3F looks cool. If only it was in 1/72 then I would have got it. come on Hobby Master make more in 1/72. Stop with the 1/48 Like the F9F Panther I would have got it if it was in 1/72. Or release both, one in 1/72 and one in 1/48 so you can have more Happy customers. | |||||||||||||

The F3F would be tiny at 1/72 scale and I doubt they could include the rigging. It's even smaller than a Gloster Gladiator.

| Re: New Sample Photos The F3F is pretty small, but wing span wise it is fairly comparable to the Gloster Gladiator (Gladiator longer by a couple of inches). With 1/48th scale wing span should be right at 8 inches where 1/72nd scale would be just a little over 5 1/4 inches. Personally prefer it done in 1/48th scale, because they will look neat sitting to my prewar HM Buffalos. | |||||||||||||

More "stop with 1:48 and make 1:72 only" whining! Give it a break! There are plenty 1:48 scale collectors that Hobby Master is making "more Happy customers."

| Re: New Sample Photos In the past I did not put much interest in 1/48th scale models, but have really changed my view with the Marushin and even more so with the Hobby Master aircraft. It just seems that 1/48th scale is perfect for some of the smaller WWII aircraft ( Space constraints rule out the larger aircraft for me.). If or when HM puts out the I-16 I will be even more happy with 1/48th scale. | |||||||||||||

I have to agree and it is true that there are far more 1/48 collectors than 1/72.. CDC Armour/Franklin Mint was around for years before Corgi ever came on the scene.. ![]() So, HM... Bring on the 1/48!!!!
