Re: How about a P6E Hawk ??

Classic Army Air Corp Biplane fighter and it really does have a pretty slick looking paint scheme. Another one I always liked was the Boeing P-12E. Some of the early Army fighters did have some nice lines to them.

How about one on skis?

The Boeing fighter.

Brewster Buffalo, Hawk 75A, Fokker D.XXI, Polikarpov I-16, Fiat G.50, Macchi C. 200, PZL P.11c, Fieseler Fi 156 Storch ,,,, now those are real planes.

Re: How about a P6E Hawk ??

I don't know that I want one badly, but I definitely would buy a P-6E... preferably in 1:72.

I'll tell ya what, though, I'd like to see that P-12 first -- or, better yet, the Navy's F4B version!
The example on display at the National Naval Aviation Museum in Pensacola would suit me juuuust fine...

I found a Marine version of the F4B.

Here is a different looking paint scheme for the P-6E Hawk.

Re: How about a P6E Hawk ??

I'd prefer 1/72nd scale, afterall Corgi pulled it off. But if HM's bi-planes have to be 1/48th scale, I'll suck it up.

I agree, Shawn. I'd much rather HM produce these in 1/72 scale. Nothing wrong with 1/48, of course, but a whole bunch of us would like to grow our 1/72 collections. As for plane choice, the Hawk is a mighty fine lookin' bird, though I think I'd throw my money after WWII models instead.

It isn't faith that makes good science, Mr. Klaatu, it's curiosity. Sit down, please. There are several thousand questions I'd like to ask you.

Re: How about a P6E Hawk ??

Ditto, Shawn and Gort: it's 1:72 scale for me. But for these gorgeous interwar planes, I'll probably shell out the money and display space for HM's 1:48 diecasts -- as long as the models are well-executed and the liveries are great. Shouldn't be too hard for HM...

I've been clamoring for interwar planes for a while; it's exciting to see some in the pipeline. Well, one at least. It sounds like there's hope for the I-16 too.

Re: How about a P6E Hawk ??

Wow, I'm actually saying "no" for once -- I'd rather vendors focused on the wartime birds first, and then once all the big ones are covered there, perhaps go to something like this.

I'd much rather see HM doing, say, an IL-2 (man i would love to have one of those in 1:48 on the shelf with Hartman's 109) than prewar biplanes. But they sure are pretty.

Re: How about a P6E Hawk ??

I like this attention to pre-war aircraft. It brings some much needed color to a collection. If you have both pre-war and WW2 birds, it shows where we were and how we ended.
