Re: F3F "Pussycat"

Wow...awesome Ara - thanks! How did you know I like the F3F? These appear to be personal photographs. Do you have a family member that shot these photos?

Not a family member-- from an expired auction.

Re: F3F "Pussycat"

Thanks-- note the photog plane is not a F3F. Any guesses?

And that Lexington shot... I bet that white circle was decidedly NOT used during the fighting with the Japanese!

The Lexington and the Saratoga definitely had different lines than the later carriers that would follow. Must be their battlecruiser beginings.

I do believe these are F2F type... looks much like F3F-1. F3F-1 resembles the F2F almost more than it resembles its variant sisters, F3F-2 and -3.

Yep, you are right on them being F2Fs. Lower portion of the cowling on the F3F-1 is almost flush with the lower fuselage where the bottom of the F2F cowling is slightly higher up.

I don't think so. The fuselage profile of the F2F is different.

(Edit: I read your question wrong, I think, JP... you probably meant all three variants of the F3F. For some reason I thought you meant the F2F and all variants of the F3F... my bad). Yeah, Cruver is right, perhaps they can do all three variants of the F3F.

Should be able to do the F3F-1, -2 or -3. Forward section of fuselage and cowling are plastic and the vertical stabilizer is plastic as well. F3F-1 had different shape to cowling, some slight differences in forward fuselage, canopy and also shape of vertcal stabilizer. With these areas looking to be plastic in the pre production model shot, Hobby Master probably could pull off all the F3F variants. Hope they are considering doing the Gulfhawk.
