Re: Hobby Master Beaufighter choices

Hello William.

Just a thought, from a Mk VI you could get away with producing a DAP (Australian, Department of Aircraft Production) Mk 21. The RAAF DAP Beaufigther Mk 21's, looked like a Mk VI with some extra humps and bumps. A Sperry auto-pilot was added, this was housed in a "hump" on the fighters nose, a faired DF loop in a "bump" was included just behind the cockpit. These aircraft had a different armament fit as well, the six wing mounted .303's being replaced by four .50 cals. This mark was used by the RAAF in the South West Pacific from mid 44 to the end of the war, some being very colourfully marked:

WINGS PALETTE - Bristol Beaufighter - Australia

Cheers CKS1.

P.S. Thanks for you imput.

Merlin powered Beaufighter would be an interesting looking model. I would like to have one too, but kind of have my doubts that this one will ever get made.

Re: Hobby Master Beaufighter choices

I bet Corgi would be really upset if HM produced this model!

Re: Hobby Master Beaufighter choices

The Beaufighter scheme that you posted is a 'cracker' JP. Beautiful colours and profile with the RDF in glass.

Re: Hobby Master Beaufighter choices

Another choise could be a post war Beau in the colors of the last operational RAF sq.
Bristol Beaufighter T.F. Mk.X 45 Squadron, Royal Air Force Ser. no. RD815 Kuala Lumpur, Malaya November 1949.
It features later style of RP launchers - the rockets were mounted in two pairs of two, one above the other .
The metal mounting plate underwing for the rails remains in the original sky finish, but the rest of some of these last operational Beaus of 45 Squadron, used against the terrorist uprising in Malaya, was in post-war style camo and markings: Dark Green / Dark Sea Grey uppers, with PRU Blue unders. This was for some time the standard RAF scheme for aircraft based overseas.
No. 45s aircraft were the last front-line RAF Beaufighter Squadron, keeping them until February 1950

Post Re: Hobby Master Beaufighter choices

1. Nightfighter

2. Torpedo version
3. Invasion striped (looks really good on the Beaufighter)
3. Malta version (would complement my Malta subcollection nicely)

Can we try with real bullets now?

Schemes I would like to see:

Coastal Command
Invasion stripes
Nightfighter
Desert scheme

the Beau's were used a lot by the RNZAF & RAAF during the war so anything with SEA markings would go down well i'm sure.
Rocket & torpedo armed versions are important too

Take it out and play with it
