Re: Hobby Master Beaufighter choices

Shhh... now don't discourage them! It's nothing they can't resolve with modular components! Corgi could do it, so I know HM is up to the task.

Oops,,, Yeah it's probably not to hard of a mod. That and it would be a really unique model.

Brewster Buffalo, Hawk 75A, Fokker D.XXI, Polikarpov I-16, Fiat G.50, Macchi C. 200, PZL P.11c, Fieseler Fi 156 Storch ,,,, now those are real planes.

Re: Hobby Master Beaufighter choices

Here's an excellent TFX from 404 Sq. ( RCAF ), RAF Coastal Command, Scotland, June '44.

That is one fantastic looking model. Impressive job there!

Re: Hobby Master Beaufighter choices

Excellent - Cunningham's - the black one with NG-R codes.
He's the second top scoring Beau ace and first to use the Beau radar to achieve a night kill.

Here's an excellent TFX from 404 Sq. ( RCAF ), RAF Coastal Command, Scotland, June '44.

Some interesting choices for the " Whispering Death " will be :
Bristol Beaufighter Mk. IF 25 Squadron, Royal Air Force Ser. no. R2069 North Weald, Essex September 1940
Bristol Beaufighter Mk. IF 604 Squadron, Royal Air Force Ser. no. R2101 Middle Wallop, Hampshire December 1940

Bristol Beaufighter Mk. IC
252 Squadron, Royal Air Force Ser. no. T4828 Idku, Egypt December 1941

Bristol Beaufighter Mk. IC
236 Squadron, Royal Air Force Ser. no. T4800 Wattisham, Suffolk June 1942

Bristol Beaufighter Mk. VIF 256 Squadron, Royal Air Force Ser. no. V8443 Woodvale, Lancashire February 1943
Bristol Beaufighter T.F. Mk. X 455 Squadron, Royal Australian Air Force Ser. no. NE775 Langham, Norfolk June 1944
Bristol Beaufighter Mk. X 30 Squadron, Royal Australian Air Force Tadje Strip, New Guinea August 1944
Bristol Beaufighter Mk. 21 22 Squadron, Royal Australian Air Force Sanga-Sanga, Borneo, Netherlands East Indies May 1945

Cunningham was ALSO 'THE' test pilot of the World's 1st Jet Airliner

Can see No.4's point about Cunningham = very-famous guy & famous plane (arguably THE most famed/copied Beau' )

Trouble is, like Bud Anderson's "Old-Crow" P.51; it's TOO predictable & been covered in other forms (kits/artwork/plates) even if it's NOT yet been done in die-cast !!!!!!!!
(It may seem 'fresh' to our Stateside cousins, who may not be so conversant with the Beaufighter, or it's colours & markings).

Given what Hawkonevoodoo says about a top 3 or 5, I'd have to ENTIRELY approve of PZL's excellent post in this thread (No.8).

IN PARTICULAR, the Malta-based T.4828 with the 'BT*B' codes & Desert-type camo'.

EVEN MORE SO; my personal Fave' in this WHOLE-THREAD.......... (Profile No.4, in post No.8)

The 'Wattisham' Coastal-Command strike bird

'T.4800' 'ND*C' (it's pure SEX !!!!!!!!!!!!! )

Those Slate Grey/Sea Grey colours with an apparent Duck-Egg type underside...... mixed with the Early type A.1 roundel looks UTTERLY-GORGEOUS & would make a VERY distinct & eye catching model !!!!!!!!!!

The RCAF strike plane that Epz' posted above is nice, but not 1/2 as lusty as those two in those camo'-schemes.

If it comes out as good as Hobbymasters 'Harvard', I'll buy a shedload of 'em - Honest !!!!!!!!!!

Re: Hobby Master Beaufighter choices

Wow...!! I'm amazed at the number of available camo schemes. (These will be 1/72, right?)

I sure hope that they are 1/72nd scale, I want to get a few. So many nice paint schemes for this one.

[quote=jim;177835]Anti shipping type with torpedo would be great, or rockets.

So many schemes out there even a Malta version would be great[/quote

Good thinking Jim, would like one to represent the Battles of the North Sea. Then again. Malta would be fine.

Re: Hobby Master Beaufighter choices

A 30 Sqn RAAF Beau would be nice, 1943 Battle of the Bismarck Sea. Followed by a 455 RAAF/489 RNZAF Coastal Command Strike Wing double whamy!!!!

Cheers CKS1
