AWww.

Hey Elmer -- I had JP's link on my site, it appears to be down though:

Naval Aviiation New Pages

That's the one! Thanks, Pappy! Site is back up now, so I printed the article. Fascinating story behind this aircraft.

Here's the link to the Naval Aviation Museum's page for SBD-2 2106, with history and pictures, including pictures of the aircraft immediately after being pulled form Lake Michigan:

Elmer, thanks for the link. Amazingly Iconic a/c & completely astonishing that it still survives.

My mate Gary will throw a fit (about this SBD) when I tell him it attacked the 'Hiryu' !!!!!!!!!

Going back to Post No.1 in this thread, I actually saw the 'Yellow & Silver' SBD on display at a Toy~collectors/Die cast Fair earlier today (Sun' 8th).

Was amazed just how good it looks - Even though Pappy's pix are 1st-Rate & superb, it seems even better still, when it's (like) 6 inches in front of yer face & you're there... gloating over just how neat & attractive the model is !!!!!!!!!!

Shame there's (just) SO MUCH stuff that's around to be purchased at the minute - otherwise I'd have bought one Today !

Yet 'another' model (now) goes on the "wanted" list

Thanks for the link, Elmer. That SBD looks stunning after it's restoration. I may want to pay a visit to that museum in the future....
