Guess you missed the bit in the text about the bigger arse They definitely did a quick fix on the 'lil guy -- not in the most flattering of ways, either, but once in the cockpit he definitely sits taller.

It comes with a single gun, too, .30 cal? (but JP said he wasn't referring to a problem with the model, just his available display space I have the same problem! I do hope HM issues a stand as then I could get two of the SBDs in the same space in a detolf...... ![]() I'm hoping I won't lilke the third scheme.... ![]()

| Re: Pics: HM SBD-2 HA0201
Yep, the SBD-2 had a single .30 cal rear armament. Twin .30 cals did not show up until the SBD-3s and the initial ones were field modifications.

| Re: Pics: HM SBD-2 HA0201 Very impressive! As noted by Cruver, this plane should have the single gun. Some SBD-2's may have been outfitted with the twin mount later in their career, but not this one. As has been noted before, this is a model of Bu.No. 2106. 2106 was delivered in this scheme, and in later schemes was present at Pearl Harbor on December 7th,1941, then flew combat during the early months of the war from the USS Lexington (before it was sunk at the Battle of the Coral Sea) and finally flew against the Japanese fleet at Midway, getting severely mauled by the Zeros in the process. After going into training work it ended up at the bottom of Lake Michigan after a landing mishap in 1943 and many years later was pulled from the lake in remarkably good condition. It has been impressively restored and occupies a place of honor at the US Naval Museum in Pensacola. ...And getting back to the single vs. double gun mount, when 2106 was pulled from Lake Michigan, it still had the single mount in place as it still does on display at Pensacola. | |||||||||||||

Thanks for the info! Quite an amazing history behind this plane -- someday I hope to see the real deal. Rest assured, the correct gun comes with the model, too, just like the first release.
