Hobbymaster- Rare??

I have been looking for a Hobbymaster Mig-21 HA0125 and it has been next to near impossible to find.. I finally did track one down, but only after exhausting all of my normal resources.. I haven't noticed this with any of their other "normal" releases, so is this a fluke???

I was going to buy this one some time ago, Harry, but I opted to get Corgi's Vietnam 21s instead (thinking HM made them). If this HM version has gone RARE (as in gone-baby-gone), I'm going to bite off my big toe.

It isn't faith that makes good science, Mr. Klaatu, it's curiosity. Sit down, please. There are several thousand questions I'd like to ask you.

Re: Hobbymaster- Rare??

Funny: this is one of two models I bought that anyone would consider rare, and it's the only HM model I don't like! Irony of ironies...and NO, it's not for sale! I don't want Mikoyan-Gurevich and Company coming after me (with ex-KGB, Mafia?) for selling the model of a plane they designed, built, and copyrighted! I also bought the Corgi Vietnam MiG-21...which falls into the category of live and learn.

I did a quick search of some of the retailers that are listed on my site and there are 2 that have this model listed. Mind you there are 20 that don't have it. Hobby Master North American retailers links page

That is not a bad looking Mig 21, looks pretty good.

Brewster Buffalo, Hawk 75A, Fokker D.XXI, Polikarpov I-16, Fiat G.50, Macchi C. 200, PZL P.11c, Fieseler Fi 156 Storch ,,,, now those are real planes.

Re: Hobbymaster- Rare??

I was thinking of buying one of the Corgi North Vietnamese Mig 21's, thinking it would nicely complement the Hobby Master "Steve Ritchie" F-4D and "Showtime 100" F-4J I have coming. I also thought these Corgi Migs were made by Hobby Master for Corgi's Predator line. However, from the comments here, it sounds like some people were disappointed with their Corgi Mig 21's. Are they made by Hobby Master for Corgi? What is wrong with them? Are they below the Hobby Master standard?

I just bought the Corgi Vietnam MiG, and it bugged the heck out of me that you can see light through the plastic fin. They didn't bother to paint the thing; it's a poorly done piece of grainy plastic that looks like a poorly done piece of plastic. The HM MiG isn't really so bad--the thing that bugged me about the model was the multiplicity of little landing gear parts. That, of course, would be a plus in some collectors books because it increases detailing. However, I couldn't get the parts assembled, and the effort drove me up the wall. I will say, I've have been thinking of getting the '21 that has the twin red stripes. After all, I don't have to assemble the landing gear to enjoy having the model, right?

Signed,
All thumbs...
