Re: Helldiver 1/72 scale in the works

Seated pilot figures would probably be a hot selling item.

You bet! I tried the Airacobra pilot in the Me-110 and it works, so there is at least some planning in that area.

Re: Helldiver 1/72 scale in the works

I'm in for at least three. Two tone blue, dark blue and Atlantic grey/white.

I'll raise the pot with a US Army OD one along with those choices.

Pilot figures are not a real big issue with me, but I know I would pick up some if they were made available.

Re: Helldiver 1/72 scale in the works

On the Brit site the following seem to be confirmed.
Yamato Killer
French
Greek

That is three, so for the next three I'll suggest:
Dark Blue overall USN ( unless the above is all blue, then three color cam )
Atlantic grey and white ( a natural pick to round out that theater IE... SBD / TBF/M )
Army OD

I just saw that post. Sounds like the top three are confirmed. Right on! Thank you hawkonevoodoo and William for making these happen!

Re: Helldiver 1/72 scale in the works

On a seperate note. Since the Helldiver will come with crew, is there a chance (in the future) we could purchase pilot packs from HM? I'd love to outfit all my SBDs, TBF/Ms and Hellcats with your pilots. A pack of ten pilots and crew would do I think. I'd have to get several sets though.

Not to mention all the Corgi Predators and War Birds that could find Hobby Master at their controls.

Army OD would look cool. Wonder why the USAAF did all they could to keep dive bombers out of their inventory. They seemed to prefer level bombers and fighter bombers to dive bombers.

Seems like they had a fairly large inventory of A-25 Shrikes, but the Army did not favor the dive bomber role. Looks like the Army had close to 900 A-25s in its inventory at one time. Some inventory was supposed to go to the RAAF, but they found it to be totally unsatisfactory and refused the order. It looks like an arrangement was made with the Navy by which the Marines took 410 of the A-25s. The Army did use the A-24 Banshee in the opening stages of WWII in the Pacific, but pretty much think it that is it with regards to the Army's use of pure dive bomber.

Re: Helldiver 1/72 scale in the works

I am definitely in for two USN birds (three tone and all dark blue). The Essex (3- tone) and the Bunker Hill (dark blue) would fit the bill for me.

HM is going to wipe out my bank account in the next year!
