Looks good, but I agree, the RIO is sitting way too low.

Sadly that's why so many diecast manfacturers produce utter crap, they know people will still buy it whether it's right or not. I guess coming from the kit world, I expect a little more and if I'm gonna pay twice the money I would for a kit, I expect some quality and don't expect stupid errors.

This looks great, but the quarterlight windows need to be sorted out, and they've been told this time and time again.

Re: F4 Phantom Showtime Pics

Looks really good....I hope they at least fix that side window behind the pilot in the canopy area that is missing.
JP

They also need to fix that single lug behind the rear canopy. Even if there is an additioanal open canopy that fits into that area, the seam on the closed or open version needs to be closed up. It is too apparent as it now looks. I will send my comments on this directly to HM as Hawkonevoodoo has instructed.

Re: F4 Phantom Showtime Pics

I looked at pre-production photos of the HM Steve Ritchie F-4D Phantom and it shows the canopies in the open position. It looks like the single lug is still there when the canopies are open-- in other words, the rear canopy hinges on this single incorrect lug. I wish they would fix this as it is so clearly wrong. Also, the side windows are not on the F-4D either. This would be an easy fix, even it they painted them in black-- that would be better than none at all. Other than these two issues, I think these two Phantoms look great. I can't wait to get them. I just wish they would correct the single rear canopy lug and the side windows. If they did, I would say these Phantoms look as close to perfect as we can expect in 1/72 scale.

Re: F4 Phantom Showtime Pics

How will the stand attach to the aircraft? This one looks very good. I promised myself I wouldn't buy any more jet aircraft, but I just might have to get this one.

Don't do what BDE tells you to do. Do what BDE would want you to do.

There are quality issues and deficiencies with most models we collect. CW is an example of nice models that could use some attention to the details. Will they fix the window issue or the canopy hinge issue,... who knows?

Will it sell and sell well? Yes it will.

Re: F4 Phantom Showtime Pics

Add the sidelight and she is a sure winner! My bet is any changes to the rear canopy hinge are not possible - changing a casting has to be major money! In any case, I think I can live with the hinge if the canopy sidelight gets fixed.

Re: F4 Phantom Showtime Pics

They did fix their Airacobra to follow our paint correction comments immediately after the pre-pro shots were released...but I've never seen them fix a mold issue. I have seen them fix assembly / QC issues starting with the 3rd release though.

Which Airacobra was that? The first one, ha1701, still shipped without the red spinner...
