Slideshow: HM 1:32 SBD

Finally got around to posting my pics of this model -- check out the slideshow w/music and commentary, here: http://klett.phanfare.com/slideshow.aspx?username=klett&album_id=590042&section_id=833952

What were they thinking with those crew figures?

Very nice, Pappy. I have to disagree with one statement you made though: I think the model looks as nice close up as it does far away.

Thanks Elmer, to clarify: I only meant that when you look real closely you can see lots of the issues, that you can't at a normal viewing distance -- you really don't mind the myriad QA flaws? Is this really Elmer?

Ha Ha! You got me! No... the drooping prop and the melting faces K crew bug me a lot. But... I think that prop issue will be sorted out. Discard the crew. Other things like the glue residue and some gaps... well... ya' just have to learn to live with these things, I guess. Or else one will be sending every other or every third model back to the retailer. But... overall, I am mightily impressed by the pictures I see. I think HM captured the overall shape and threw in nice detail to boot. I don't care that the model is not heavy (as some do). I prefer more plastic if that means a more highly detailed model.

But... then again... maybe its your pictures that make it look so lovely! I am holding out for the pre-war Dauntless, and a tri-tone Dauntless. I have to draw the line at two!

Ah, well, good thing then that there are no exposed screws!

Overall, I agree with you -- be interesting to see what the third scheme will be... I've said "only one". But then, I've said that before!

I see your cover piece aft of the gun is not fitting either. I'm wondering if I should file mine down a bit...

Yeah, it needs a smidge of file work -- mine actually fell inside the model during the shoot and now I'm having trouble getting it out!

I had the same thing. Little precarious tipping it up and shaking it to get it out...
