Red face Re: HA1901 F-4D Phantom II, Steve Ritchie

Dang it. The one MiG-killing USAF F-4 I don't have a pic of, and it turns out to be one of the few F-4's in Vietnam with formation lights...

Well, then I have "replacement" comment: I think the belly grey paint is too dark. 36622 is an incredibly light grey, very hard to tell from pure white. (Modern HARM missiles are 36622, and most people think those missiles are white) The belly on the model is obviously grey--which means it's too grey/dark. It should be more like "slightly off-white". Much more "cream" colored.

Re: HA1901 F-4D Phantom II, Steve Ritchie

On the hinges, I just hope they tighten up the gaps some. How its designed doesn't bother me, just the gaps. Heck seal it up for all I care, I don't display mine with open canopies anyways. The small port and strboard windows would be nice, but wont put me off from getting these birds. As for the belly color, well that probably is due to HMs wash technique. Which again doesn't bother me. Overall these F4s are surely going to be better than Corgi's. And probably better than the GA versions, which always keeps the glass shut tight.

Re: HA1901 F-4D Phantom II, Steve Ritchie

David, at least the formation light on the nose of HM F-4D is way to long and placed to low. The real world reference picture shows that it does not go from the vent on the nose to the splinter plate like to HM pre-pro version.

Re: HA1901 F-4D Phantom II, Steve Ritchie

We need to see that these suggested corrections get to Hobby Master. Maybe Hawkonevoodoo is monitoring this thread, as he has been good about forwarding suggestions to HM in the past. To be sure, maybe we should see that this information is emailed to him.

JP, it's nice to know that there is a line of communication from we unwashed masses to the brass up top. I'd personally take a delay in getting the plane to have HM address all the issues discussed in this thread!
