Re: Starman's F9F-2 Panther 1:48 scale

Does anybody know which plastic kit HM may have used to produce this model? Trumpeter's, Monogram's, or some other's?

Not sure they based it on a kit, but the F9F Panther was put out in 1/48th scale by Hobbycraft models, Trumpeter and Monogram. I cannot find any other companies that put this aircraft out in 1/48th scale. Fonderie Miniature did the Cougar in 1/48th but not sure if they did the Panther as a kit.

Re: Starman's F9F-2 Panther 1:48 scale

My F9F-2 Panther arrived this morning, along with CT-ANG A-10; the Bf-119G, II./ZG76; and the CW A-7E Corsair. Since we're Snowbirds and will be heading north shorthly, I only took the F9F-2 from its box to look at, but not assemble or remove from the styrofoam cradle. From what I can observe, everything looks fine. Appears to be a fine addition to my collectioin. I also own the IXO Bf-110 and I'll be anxious to see how it compares to the HM release.. The other three were also eyeballed and they too look very good, especially the A-7E Corsair. No pix until I get home, but some of our fellow forum contributors have already posted pictures.

Unlikely to happen. Not to sound gruesome but I heard his head was separated from the rest of his body by a bizarre family request.

Pretty sad....

Re: Starman's F9F-2 Panther 1:48 scale

Nice mods miket! I have to say that after reading a lot of the discussion on this model I was a little apprehensive, but I can say since receiving my shipment one immediately went into my personal hangar (of course then again when doesn't one?) Maybe I'm not a critical as most, but I love this bird! Is it perfect? No. Did it far surpass my expectations? Yes. Anyhow, this model is a beauty with great size and a definite unique/cool factor.

Cheers!

Colin

Nice modifications miket! I have heard here that some Panthers had a rear canopy frame and some did not. Do you have a photo of this actual aircraft to confirm the canopy configuration or is it a guess? How did you do do it (decal or paint or...)?
