It does look sweet.

You will get no arguments from me on that.

Re: Starman's F9F-2 Panther 1:48 scale

I in the end I guess that sales will be the determining factor as to how much a detriment this was. Personally I was a little more surprised by the seams in the fuselage preceding the intake (Also seam extending into the intake). HM has usually done better in construction as to avoid these visible seams. Not sure if this has anything to do with produce,

I agree with you on both accounts: 1) sales will be the determining factor and 2) the seam leading into the intake is as much an eyesore to me as the wing fold line. The overall fit of this model is not up to the standard of HM releases we have seen so far.

btw... I see what you mean by the join line at the C1 P-40 wing root. This model has it, as do the Doras, Wildcat, and Me 109. I guess this join line never bothered me because I accepted it as necessary... the wings have to join the fuselage at some point, and this is generally where you see wing join lines on plastic and diecast.

I earlier "expostulated" on being "knocked out" by certain features of models such as outstanding detail. The feature of the F2A that "knocked me out" right away is fit. I think this feature sets this model apart from almost all. It is darn near perfect. I can hardly tell where any seam line is. The Spitfire is close. Perhaps this is one reason why I am critical of the Panther model... I expected more from the company who brought us darn near perfect fit.

Elmer - we'll drag you into buying one soon enough! LOL It's a good model and anyone who says it's not is just trying to talk themselves out of spending 70 bucks! LOL

That would be a winner, just hope they continue putting out some of the earlier jets.

That's the message they gotta be getting. Or are they that dumb?

I love my Panther. I just had the chance to really get a look at it. The color is dead on. The seams are not bad, and the size is just awesome.

I can take umbrage, I can take the cake, I can take the A-Train, I can take two and call me in the morning, but I cannot take this sitting down. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to take five.

Are there a few odds and ends that can be better? Sure. But tell me one model that doesn't have one thing that could be better. It is nice to have this important aircraft in 1/48th scale. It is a great looking model. Looks great sitting with the C1 F4f, FM F6F, plastic built F7F, and F8F. Well done Hobbymaster, and great job on making a model not done by anyone else.
