Does anybody own the CF-104 tiger meet?

Last edited by vaindioux : 03-09-2008 at 12:11 AM. Reason: Files attached
Hi

I am about to loose it with this plane. I just got it brand new and I can't figure out how to place the panels below where the landing gear is when displayed "Gear down". If someone could be kind enough to post a pic of the plane landing gear area I would appreciate it.
I removed the 4 panels down there, removed that long yellow & black part, placed the wheels in, the long part then goes back in to block the wheels and the 2 small panel lodge themselves against the wheels. The problem is the 2 bigger panel, I can't figure out how they go in. It seems easy but it is not.

Thanks a lot

Patrick

Patrick,
From your picture you have the small doors installed on the wrong side. First thing to do is get those on the correct sides. The large main gears doors go on with the strut or brace facing aft. They will be slightly open even when in the "closed" position.

I reversed the 2 small doors and I placed the 2 big panels in and it just feel weird. I mean you are right about the 2 small panels, that has been corrected. But as far as the 2 big panels I got them in now with the very thin part (Antenna like, look at my first pic) against the landing gear but it seems wrong.
I still hope someone will upload a pic, maybe the fit is just like that and in fact it's not me but the model.
By the way if anyone has another version of the F-104 like the Japanese one, it's the same jet, so you can upload that too.

I appreciate the help Chris

Thanks

Patrick

This site has a shot of the bottom of this model. Might help with the placement of the doors.

Brewster Buffalo, Hawk 75A, Fokker D.XXI, Polikarpov I-16, Fiat G.50, Macchi C. 200, PZL P.11c, Fieseler Fi 156 Storch ,,,, now those are real planes.

You should remove the Sidewinders also. Never used them.

Thanks so much, this is what I was looking for. Well I had it right after all as far as the big panels, they just don't shut all the way as can be slightly seen from that site shot. It's in fact the 2 small panels which I had wrong as was pointed here.

Thanks again

Patrick

So the tiger version never had sidewinders equipped?

Thanks

No Canadian CF-104 was ever was equipped with Sidewinders.

The CF-104 was used in the Strike/Recon and later Conventional attack roles.

In fact after the Royal Canadian Navy retired their Banshee Fighters in 1962 (Sidewinder equipped) the Sidewinder was not part of the Canadian Forces inventory until the CF-18 Hornet entered service in 1982!
