Beautiful plane. Your pictures pushed me over the edge - I ordered one from Flying Mule just now. Thanks for posting the pics, Cruver!

Yet another bird I have pre-ordered. I can't wait to grab my first P39. Thanks for the pictures.

I really like this latest Duxford P-39 by Hobby Master. With the great job they did on this model, I wonder if they might consider making a P-39 in the markings of LT. Boyd D. “BUZZ” Wagner? He was credited with 3 victories in the P-39.

Re: Airacobra Mk.I 601 Sqn. "City of London"

Well UPS dropped of a box from Pete's today and one of the models in it was the Hobby Master Airacobra Mk.I "Count of London". First impression was that this is one nice looking model. Parts all went on real easy and it sits just fine on its tricycle gear. It also has a pilot with it for those that look for that. I had not really planned on picking up anymore P-39s, but after seeing this model, just might have to reconsider. Will do a little review a bit later, have a couple more models to get at.

I love get a a big box of goodies delivered to my door.

This is the one I've been REALLY waiting on!!

It looks really sharp, and it is a bit of a small fighter.

Here's a beautiful picture of the REAL 'AH.601' ; subject of this actual-model......

Thanks !!!!!!! Note the 'Jaded-"Press"-Hack' w/suitcase & assistant (far-right of shot).

Judging by the ultra-low cloudbase & the several 'macs' being worn, it was overcast & raining that day !!!!!!!

Typical British '1940's weather !!!!!!!!

Picture was taken at Duxford, which 3 years later, was 'home of the 78th F.G'.

GREAT MODEL by Hobbymaster, BTW !!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm not getting this one due to ZERO combat usage, but I would love if Hobby Master re-makes this camo in P-39 first Eastern Front kill livery.

Regards,

Sergey

I 'catch your drift'/(meaning) Sergey, but that's not actually correct.......!

On 9th, 10th & 11th October 1941 601 Squadron flew (P.39) offensive-missions out of RAF Manston in Kent - ACTUALLY attacking shooting-up (& destroying) numerous "barges & trawlers" in the heavily-defended ports of Dunkirk and Boulougne (& the surrounding coastline in-between !!!!!!!!

So, the RAF 601 Squadron's P.39 Airacobra's ACTUALLY DID actually see combat (albeit, in bad weather & with no Luftwaffe intervention)

BTW' - 601 persevered on their P.39's until March 1942.
