Re: F6F Blue Angels

Here's an idea for a Blues related set- package the Hellcat along with the SNJ painted up like the Zero. The SNJ, according to the books, was yellow with a big red "meatball" on the fuselage and wings. The number 0 was on the rudder.

I was wondering about the SNJ they had, forgot to post about it. So it was done as a Zero? Yeah that would be an interesting twin pack. In any event I would like to have one.

Yeah, they used the SNJ as part of the show to demonstrate aerial gunnery techniques. At some point during the Bearcat tenure, the meatballs were removed from the SNJ and it was repainted to become the original Beetle Bomb. In turn, it was replaced by another Bearcat.

I found the same airticle a couple days back. You are spot on about that being an option for a special Blue Angels release. Your twin pack idea is an excellent suggestion and bet it would sell like crazy. Shoot, HM already has an AT-6 mold.

Brewster Buffalo, Hawk 75A, Fokker D.XXI, Polikarpov I-16, Fiat G.50, Macchi C. 200, PZL P.11c, Fieseler Fi 156 Storch ,,,, now those are real planes.

Re: F6F Blue Angels

The Hellcat, Skyhawk will fit in my BA Shrine real nice.
Hopefully to be followed by the Beetle Bomb, Cougar, Panther, Tiger.....

Just noticed,.... you can see the team bag off to one side., Belonged to Lt Cdr Dave Stewart who joined team in '92 as narrator, '93 as opposing solo (on bag) and '94 as lead solo #5. Found it in big flea market in VA Beach. $10.00.

Re: F6F Blue Angels

Remember the 4-pack of Blues F-4s Monogram made years ago? Or the BA history set Hasegawa put out later (which still required you to buy the Monogram to make complete)?

I had built all the Hasegawa singly before they packaged them up in one box.

Did you build the Monogram Bearcat to make it complete?

When I was a kid, just for kicks, I took the old MPC Skyray and repainted it in Blues colors. I don't know whatever happened to it. I think it got pitched (along with a bunch of other stuff) when my parents cleaned out my room after I left for boot camp.
