Re: Pre-Pro Pictures Of HM's Third Bf 110

Is that a false glass nose.

Yep, an attempt to fool the Soviet fighter pilots into thinking it was a Ju 88 A model and make head on attack (Where all those nice machine guns are). It would make for a real unique paint scheme.

If I recall correctly, the JU-88C heavy fighter had three machine guns plus one 20mm cannon in its solid nose---an even worse surprise for any Soviet fighter pilot who tried a frontal attack. They were also used in NW Europe, particularly The Bay Of Biscay, and often clashed with Beaufighters and later, Mosquito Fighter/Bomber variants.

The one in the picture is a Ju-88C-6 which had the three machine guns and 20mm cannon in the nose, plus two additional machine guns in the gondola. Ju-88C-4 had similar armament layout. In the picture you can make out one of the machine gun barrels on the lower side of the gondola.

Re: Pre-Pro Pictures Of HM's Third Bf 110

That radar array looks like it was designed more to reach out and grab than to look out and track. Hopefully models in the hand will look better than the models in the pictures, as is often the case. My taste runs to earlier versions, so I think I'll wait for HM to re-engine and re-nose.

Hopefully the Corgi version will make it out this year.

I for one would like HM to make Wolfgang "Wolf" Falck radarless Me 110Aces of the Luftwaffe - Wolfgang Falck as illustrated below. He is the acknowledged forerunner of the first Nightfighting Squadron commander for the early Me 110s unit. I just love the look of black painted Zerstorers!

It can be a curse, you drop in for a cup of coffee and pass some time with no intention of buying, but you can't leave a hobby store without buying anything.

I have 109's on the brain since I admitted yesterday that I do not have any.

Even went to local store yesterday in middle of snow storm to get one.

Could not do it bought a Hellcat instead. Did look at the HM 110. It did not impress me any.

Smart-move, smartd - why buy a 'spindly'-'109, when you can have a Handsome & well-built F.6-F instead ?

You bought the 'better' bird

That paint scheme would really stand out in a collection. Picture looks like a Bf 110C, so might be a possibility for Corgi's Bf 110.

Yes, I would love one as well! Very cool and HM could do this one very easy with the mould they have now for the 110.

Thank You Hornchurch. I even dug out an old plastic model from the repair box and fixed it up as a stable mate.
