Exclamation Re: HA1802 Bf-110G-4, G-9+WD

How did you pry off the aileron balances, ones on mine are on pretty solid?

They weren't pried off. They were cut off carefully making sure that the cut was flush against the wing. The aileron balances were then glued back on in the right orientation. The plastic is a little soft so it wasn't much of an effort to cut them away from the ailerons. As I said before, make sure that the resulting cut is flush against the wing and also be careful that you don't scratch the ailerons while cutting. Slice the balances away slowly because they might "jump" off when you slice through them and lose them all together.

I couldn't stand the wrong orientation of the aileron balances so I took the plunge. I suggest using something with a thin blade. I used a small cutter to do this. You can try this solution but if you do you're doing it at your own risk.

Pretty interesting solution to the problem. If I get to feeling brave one of these days, might just give it a crack.

Re: HA1802 Bf-110G-4, G-9+WD

I left my G4 Walk Around reference at one of the kids houses. Does anyone know where the air intake for the left engine is located on this model? On the G-2/R3 there is an intake pipe coming out of the leading edge of the left wing just outboard the nacelle. HM has this filled in on the G4 wing. Both models have the right engine's intake pipe coming out of the inboard side of the right nacelle. Did HM just leave this off?

Re: HA1802 Bf-110G-4, G-9+WD

After a 4 months drought in buying diecast planes, i decided to get this beauty, overall, it's nicely done, and i decided to leave out the rocket launchers.

Just waiting for Corgi to do a Ju-88 nightfighter now.

That is one little error on this model. The intake you are referring to is for the supercharger. They got it right on their first Bf 110, but missed out on the second model. There should have been a small intake in the leading edge of the wing, just outboard of the port engine nacelle (Right where there is a small square shape insert into the leading edge of the wing.).

Ju 88 night or day fighter verstion would be a great addition.

Concerning the port engine supercharger inlet. Got my reference back, and the G4 inlet is integrated into the wing's leading edge. It's a subtle detail, particularly compared to the tube coming out of the G2's leading edge. If I feel adventurous, I may get a file out and fix it.

That got the correct intake on the first Bf 110, but for some reason did not nail it on the second.
