Re: Pre production photos of Guadalcanal P-400

Looks sort of grey/black, though to tell the truth I had to go back and look...

Thanks for the close up shots.

Re: Pre production photos of Guadalcanal P-400

Question for one of the forum members that already own one of HMs P-39s. Are the gun barrels on the wings gun metal grey or steel color?

More importantly - the machine guns are completely missing from the nose gun fairings. Otherwise, I love this model!

Reason of interest is I have the P-39 Mk.I "County of London" on pre order. I have already started preparing some gun barrels for the missing nose armament. From the looks of it the gun barrels in the pictures look pretty close to gun metal grey. Looking forward to getting model and seeing how the modification comes out.

CC - the fairings are VERY shallow. I'd like to see your fix on this. It looks like it will be very challenging!

I posted this photo in another thread, but am repeating it here as it seems appropriate.

Pictures did indicate it looked very shallow. I have sanded a shallow beveled end to where it should appear to be coming out of the fuselage. Have the end pretty close to paper thin. Hopefully I will get the model sometime next month and be able to see how this project will come out. Like the P-39, but really want to see if I can correct the missing gun barrels.

The addition of the gun barrels should greatly improve the model.

Is that supposed to be snow on the airplane?
What museum is it?

Probably there to keep the Eskimo in the background feel at home.
