Re: Pre production photos of Guadalcanal P-400

I really like this one. Now I'm glad I put off buying Devastating Devil so I can get this one.

Re: Pre production photos of Guadalcanal P-400

I thought the HM staff was going to show off two versions, one with and one without the inked lines. Then decide among themselves which looks better and go with that.
After the Corgi Cat Mouth Hellcat, Bush Avenger and Ace of Spades SBD, the wash is a must. I'm trying to determine a way to wash/weather these birds myself. The SBD is just too darn new looking for all those mission marklings. The other two are too clean and almost toy like in their "neat" appearance.
As for the P-400. Its going to look real nice next to the IXO Snookie and Devestating Devil.

Re: Pre production photos of Guadalcanal P-400

I vaguely recall Hawk mentioning previously that on 1/72nd scale HM would no longer embellish the panel lines, but still might continue to do so on the 1/48th scale models. The first in the Bf 110 would seem to be an indication of this. Shame, I thought they might trend towards toning down, instead of completely forgoing this kind of detail. Case of back to factory fresh paint schemes, but I do like their products (And will continue to pick them up.).

I believe that Hobby Master will make a decision on panel lines on an individual basis. They will take 2 models of each plane and put panel lines on one and leave the other plain. They will then base their decision by comparing the two and it will be their staff members that do the comparing. If the model is to have lines then they are going to try and keep them to a minimum.

It is hard to tell on the Bf 110, but I think they did ink the panel lines, just very lightly.

You snuck a crew into your model.

Re: Pre production photos of Guadalcanal P-400

I really liked the first two 39s, and as someone mentioned on this thread, the Guadalcanal version looks like the best yet. I hope they keep the inked panel lines, but tone them down about 50%. However, heavy ink isn't a show stopper for me when it comes to making a decision to buy.

Funny you should mention that in this thread because they are from the first two 39s. The uniform colors are a bit off, but any port in a storm...

I still think HM is planning on producing a line of pilots, just because the 110 has a removable canopy (in fact, just try to keep it from falling off!), and the 39 pilots fit right in.

I'd buy some finished 1/72 pilots, if the price was right.

Man, I wish you ink lovers would pipe down. I don't like the ink much at all but if you keep on this way I'm afraid they'll listen to you, who are clearly wrong, and ignore me, though I'm right.

Thumbs up Re: Pre production photos of Guadalcanal P-400

P-39 or P-400 in 1:48 would be great for me.
