...still looking for a scale, manufacturer, and retailer for the Hawk...

Scale is 1:72.

Re: Nakajima B5N2 Kate and NASA F-104N

People were wondering what the scheme on the Kate was going to look like--- I don't know whether you were aware of this or not, but if you go to Hawk's website and click on the number for the Kate or the NASA F-104, a color drawing of each will come up. The same goes for the others on the list. In fact the F9F-2 has photos of what I assume is a pre-production model.

And this is an artist's rendition --more in line with my previous post--of the same plane from Michael-Reimer.com.

Here's a pic of a kit-make of the HM Kate taken from the gallery of J-aircraft.com Main Page.

I will probably be putting a pre order on this one in addition to the Buffalo.

Re: The Pearl Harbor Attack Nakajima Type 97 Kanko (B5N2 "Kate") from the second wave attack force contributed by the ZUIKAKU.

See photos below.

There is little tangible evidence, other than the interpretation of black and white photos, that any Kates had brown-painted tails during the attack on Pearl harbor. In fact, there exists one relic recovered from one of the five Kates downed at Pearl Harbor which demonstrates the contrary.

GOTO ---> Pearl Harbor "Hospital Kate" Relic Color Analysis by Mike WILSON *PICS*

The fact remains that the relic analysis of more than one Kate lost at Pearl Harbor reveals they were either dark-green over all top surfaces or dark green mottled over a pale olive-gray (close to FS-16350). The lower surfaces were, for the most part, the same light olive-gray color. Some of the Kates may have had their lower surfaces painted in aluminum paint and Commander FUCHIDA's Kate appears to have had NMF on the lower surfaces.

There is absolutely no documentary evidence that brown paint was used on any upper surfaces of the Kates which attacked Pearl harbor regardless of artistic renderings.

FWIW.
