Re: Hobby Master Brewster Buffalo observations

I came across this bit of Brewster Buffalo information awhile back. The Buffalo has one unique distinction; it produced one ace for every thirteen airframes made. There were right around 517 Brewster Buffalo airframes made (This includes the prototype) and there were 39 pilots that scored 5 or more aerial victories in the Buffalo (36 Finish and 3 Commonwealth). This is a fairly impressive record for an aircraft that many consider to be a failure. So far from what I have dug up, the Buffalo looks to also have scored right around 509 aerial victories, almost one victory for every airframe made.

Re: Hobby Master Brewster Buffalo observations

I am still hoping that the folks at Hobby Master will put out a couple of their Brewster Buffalos with a Finnish paint scheme. If they did, here are a couple that I would like to see.

1. Captain Hans Henrik Wind, top scoring Buffalo ace with 39 victories (75 Victories overall) in a the Buffalo.

2. Warrant Officer Eino Ilmari Juutilainen, second top scoring Buffalo ace with 34 victories (94 Victories overall) in a the Buffalo. He was also Finlands top scoring fighter ace.

CC,

Great posts and artwork. So at what point would you stop buying a Buffalo? Would you get, say, 4 more? 3?

I would try to get every US version... personally. But I know you have 'em all so far!

Wow! This is impressive. It puts the much maligned fighter into proper perspective and gives it its respectful dues. Thanks for posting this, CC.

Re: Hobby Master Brewster Buffalo observations

I bought the Netherlands version, its camo hides those panel lines well.

I agree HM did a fine job on this bird.
Who would have thought a manufacturer would have had the courage to do this plane?

Keep up the good work HM (but keep down the panel lines please).

God Bless America.

If HM puts out 4, 5 or 6 more Buffalos, well,,,, I guess I will be getting 4, 5 or 6 more Buffalos. I have to admit that the Buffalo is one of my favorite aircraft and I am really impressed with the quality of these models. Only problem will be if Hobby Master puts out the Polikarpov I-16 like they had indicated earlier, probably, correction, I definitely would pick up all of that type aircraft too. Hope there is a future chance of a Curtiss P-36/Hawk 75 and Fokker D.XXI (Then I would be in real trouble space wise,,, but would find a way to make some more room,),

I too continue to hope that HM did not and will not scrap any plans for the I-16. Isn't it about time to announce a 4th 1:48 mold? Hawk?

Not a hundred percent sure, but think I remember Hawk indicating the new Buffalo was going to be a new mold. I am hoping the I-16 is on the up and coming list though. That aircraft would have a large variety of paint schemes too. Spanish (Nationalist & Republican), Chinese, Finnish, and Soviet, a whole bunch of possibilities.

An I-16 would kill... what books do you have on it? Do you have the Schiffer softcovers?

I would buy at least 1 Rata.
