Re: Bf 110 retractable tail wheel??

Mine came with both the tail wheel and tail wheel cover. Wing rocket launchers were a little tricky to attach, but everything else fit perfectly.

Aside from the backward aileron balance horns, the only problem I see is the rear of the canopy wasn't changed to the reflect correct G configuration. See Osprey's Aircraft of the Aces - 25, Messerschmitt Bf 110 Zerstorer Aces of World War 2, page 94 for a picture of what I believe is this very aircraft to see what I mean. That said, I really like this model and can't wait for the G4!

I have both the next two Bf 110s nightfighters on pre-order, and really hope that HM puts out at least one more day fighter version. As far as the rocket launcher attachment, well I just slightly separated the mounts at the attachement points a couple of times to keep them from pulling together, and they stay on just fine now. I had not picked up on the rear canopy observation you made. Squadron Publications Messerschmitt Bf 110 Zerstorer in in action has a side drawing of a Bf 110G-2 on page 45 that really shows canopy difference you mentioned.

Re: Bf 110 retractable tail wheel??

I love this model, but am a bit confused (or maybe hopeful) about HMs plans. The greenhouse canopy is easily removed, but there are no pilot/gunner figures. I wonder if this means HM plans to sell separate crew members later, or if they are just making it easier for us to put in after-market sitters? One thing I did want to try was to see if the pilot figures from the P-39s fit in the seats. That means I would have more planes than pilots, but at least the 110 could be shown flying.

On the plus side, the cockpit does have some interior detailing to it.

Re: Bf 110 retractable tail wheel??

You would think that some company out there might make after market 1/72nd scale seated pilot figures. After a fairly lengthy search, the answer would seem to be no.

And of course they have to fit into that narrow little pilot's seat...I looked too, but the offerings were kind of strange, like pilots lounging or standing around talking (see Squadron).

That is pretty much what I found too. Checked Squadron and a few other sources, but no seated figures.

Re: Bf 110 retractable tail wheel??

Has anybody noticed, HM's T-6s also have a "retractable" tail wheel...?
