Help! Bf 110 parts check

Just received my Bf 110, and it is even better than I expected. Well worth the price... However, I have a question about parts. In my bubble pack there is an empty slot left of the landing gear located on the top left-side of the pack. The slot is about 3/8" long and 1/4" wide, round on one end. Did anyone else get a part in that slot, or is it supposed to be empty?

Thanks for your help.

I picked up this nice plane last week myself and really liked it! Better than the pics I seen on different sites. I also wondered what this 'empty' place was for. I have no clue. Unless it is a place you can hid your small swrinking wallet for all the diecast you have bought last year and to hid it from the ole wifey.

Thanks for the info...now I can vacuum the floor without fear of losing some irreplaceable piece of plastic!

Re: Help! Bf 110 parts check

The one received had all the landing gear pieces and antenna for the canopy, but did have one odd piece though. It looks like they included a piece to depict the tail wheel being retracted, but to the best on my knowledge the Bf 110 had a fixed tail wheel on all its variants.

That's what the empty space in my bubble pack looks like! Could you tell me where the spare part was located in the pack?

Thanks. (curiouser and curiouser)

Edit: I thought it strange that they supplied a separate tail wheel fitting that looked switchable...

The part is in the red circle on the picture. Hope this helps.

Re: Help! Bf 110 parts check

If the part missing matches location in picture, well you really do not need it then. Took a look through my referrence material and the Bf 110 had fixed tail wheel on all its production models. The prototype Bf 110V 1 had a semi retracted tail wheel, but starting with the preproduction Bf 110A-0, the tail wheel was made not retractable. So Bf 110s B thru G series all had a fixed tail wheel. Maybe HM caught this error along the way and did not include this piece with the one you received. Mine did come with the piece and it fits well, but seeing since it is pretty much of an oops, it can just stay in the box. Hope this helps.

Got that piece. The empty slot in my bubble wrap is about two inches to the right on the other side of the main gear...

Thanks much for that pic. It was a big help. Time to skip to the other thread on this topic...
