Re: HM 1/32 SBD almost here??

Look carefully on the packaging pictures... there is a picture / icon of an aircraft--red--with text "1:32 Premium Collection" superimposed on it. I can't tell what the aircraft is. I may be reading too much into this, but I wonder (whatever it is) if this is a future 1:32 mold/casting?

I think that's just the logo/brand for the 1:32 series, but since it is a series we should be seeing some more molds over time, though I also think much more slowly than HM's other lines.

Really looking forward to this one!

Here is a good picture of the Dive brakes on a real SBD.
It looks like the Dive brakes on the 1:32 has a gap in the wing area after you close the Dive brakes.
This is why my friend asked if these pushed in because of the gap.

My local store said he will have the new HM next Thursday. Hope that's a payday.

Hey Dave any idea what MC is going to be charging for these. The price is one of the major factors holding me back on getting one. I like the 1/32 range but "XX" is charging 150.00. You can get a lot of other die cast for that money, if you shop around.

That may be true at what there charging but that is also free shipping.....Shipping alone would be costly for a plane this size.
I have seen other sites charge the same but you also have to pay for shipping.

I was looking again at the recently posted pictures on Hawk's site of the new 1/32 SBD and noticed a "glaring" error that I had missed before-- The box is marked in big letters- "SBD-5". Now this is not an SBD-5, but an SBD-3. I find this more amusing than troublesome. Yes, it is an error, but I could care less as long as the model is right... and it does appear to be right. Perhaps this is an indication that a 1/32 SBD-5 may be in our future. Of course, its box will probably be marked SBD-3.

I really like what I've seen of this model so far but...I hope the gap in the area of the fuselage in front of the canopy is corrected.

The features and gimmicks lavished on this diecast by HM is on par with Corgi's and GMP's even though there are still minor flaws to contend with which to me is very acceptable.

I'm looking forward to the 'pre-war' coloured Dauntless!

As far as the icon goes, at least in this case, what you see isn't what you'll get. I don't know of any plans to produce a 1/32 using the plane depicted on the icon.

I was assured that it was fixed. The pictures that show the gap are from early stages of development.
