Re: HM 1/32 SBD almost here??

As for me gang. I'm waiting for 21Century Toys to release their version of the Coral Sea SBD-3. At $14.96 at Wallyworld I'll bet that the crew will be better done, the prop won't droop and the rivet counters will need Valium to calm them down. I understand, from a usually reliable source, that they're due out in 16 days. Watch for 'em.

I'm with ya on that, Stalag....I can be VERY happy with plastic at $14.96 vs metal for, what is it, around $160?

I'm pretty up to date on 21st releases and I haven't heard/or seen anything about this.. Now, BBI is coming out with a 1/32 SBD which should be out anyday.. I am waiting for that one, but I doubt we'll see it for $14.99, probably more like $29.99, but still a deal compared to HM's bird..

Re: HM 1/32 SBD almost here??

Thanks for the detailed instructions Starman. I tried doing that, but the pin was too deep, so I wasn't able to get it. I will likely get either some string or thin wire and spin it around the prop to keep it from drooping until I can find out about the replacement prop option. The model looks great with the exception of the prop, and from the most recent pic posting, it appears that this issue has been ironed out in subsequent models. Hopefully I'll be able to get the replacement prop, or the string-wire option will work. My model's prop droops to the point that the prop rubs the cowling, thus my concern and desire to get this fixed. It is a shame, but this problem illustrates one of the disadvantages of buying a first release of a model.

It's the eco-green aspect of this masterpiece that impresses me most! The stand is re-cyclable. 'Way to go Skunky The truth is out now 'Ye Olde Skunkmeister' is a tree hugger

I just got mine finally -- and I am going to hold off commenting on it good/bad until I digest it more, so to speak. I'm torn between being underwhelmed and "wow, this thing looks cool in 1:32" right now.

I do have the prop droop, too. And the pin is too deep for JP's fix.

Not sure about looking at the replacement prop option -- seems like the issue could be fixed by cementing a small circular piece of a smooth material onto the pin, same diameter, as the droop seems to be caused by a small gap between the flat surface of the pin and the engine block... going to try this later as it shouldn't be too tough to try and will report back.

I certainly agree that we should have to mess with this issue, and apparently we don't really -- but I may choose too...

Re: HM 1/32 SBD almost here??

The prop droop seems to be a random problem and you can bet HM is looking at this really close for the second issue. If you have a real problem, feel free to contact your distributor who will take care of you at no expense to you.
As for a stand, one is being developed and will be available in the near future. Before you ask, I don't know at this time if it will be ready for #2, I don't suspect it will.
As for the pilot being short, he was supposed to have a parachute attached to his bottom but that department forgot to add it. This is why one figure is smaller or larger than the other.

So what is that attached to their bottoms, then --seat cushions? Looks like the chutes are painted on?

That pilot really is ... undertall

And it looks like there is a hole on the bottom -- comes with an Elmer Plug inserted -- for a stand?

Erm is that the pilot or the Plane Pappy?

I bet Hawk breaks into a cold sweat every time HM brings out a new model.
Waiting for the buying publics response must be a nail biting experience !
