Panther Touches down at DiecatAce Field

Howdy all, just a tower report for you from DiecastAce Field:

The HM Panther has just touched down after a rough overseas flight (outside box was beat to sh#%*()&t). The airplane itself looks to have survived the trip okay though...

I'm swamped at the moment with work stuff but... I just had to say that the first thing I did was take it out of the box and test the wing folding mechanism... which is very solid and I don't think looks as bad in person as we'd feared. The problem though is that the action of folding the wing ended up stripping a bit of paint off the wing by the hinge -- that is a bummer and I suspect will be an issue for HM with this model.

Nice heft to the model, the paint job looks good -- canopy won' slide open but I've yet to examine that more... or put on the parts... so more later.

Hopefully I can do a full set of pics this weekand and give a detailed report on Monday.

(Oh, the Panther had a 1:72 wingman -- the new Italian F-104... this one will stand out on the shelf!)

Okay...so it's weathered. - hehe - Is it really dark or more royal like the pre prod? How's the canopy look?

It looks darker than the prepro -- though I never saw the prepro in person... not sure I follow the weathered joke ?

As for the canopy, well I don't know a ton about this airframe so I've not really looked at that yet. When I post the pics, you can tell me perhaps

Re: Panther Touches down at DiecatAce Field

By weathered I mean the gloss was sun baked to a matte finish.

Ah, okay -- I thought you were hoping it wasn't glossy, though so this is good news? There's a sheen to it if you catch the light right but you won't be seeing you reflection in it or anything :-)

Anyhow, it's nowhere near the sheen you get with say the finish on Corgi's Black Bunny Phantom.......
