Re: Pics of Chrome F-104J

The Chrome 104 is resistant to fingerprints. I've literally manhandled the one I have and the finish is still pristine (I just finished checking it again). It seems that it has a special protective coating. If you handle it with your bare hands it leaves a slippery feeling on your hands afterwards. IMHO, this 104 needs no special handling.

Great plane!

Will it tarnish over time do you think?

Re: Pics of Chrome F-104J

It's been more than a week since I "fixed" the angle of the wings and I didn't wipe it down afterwards. I have just checked it under the light and I can't see any fingerprint marks or marring of the chrome finish. It's not like my other chrome diecast (a figure from Evangelion) which tarnishes easily. If it has not tarnished after the excessive handling it received last time I don't think it will.........though that doesn't mean I don't handle it carefully now......I just hold it by the nosecone and petals of the jetpipe.

Re: Pics of Chrome F-104J

My F-104J just arived yesterday. I am really impressed with the fit and finish on this one. I just wish the stand worked better. I have mine sitting on a FlexiDisplay stand right now. Has anyone tried using a Witty F-16 stand on the HM F-104's?

Re: Pics of Chrome F-104J

Just got TFMs last copy of this. Plan to get only one copy of the 104, and this seemed the right one. Looking forward to it...

I'm still trying to resist the JASDF models, but I have to admit I'm finding it more difficult the more I see!

Re: Pics of Chrome F-104J

Got this one last week and finally got around to putting it together today --- this is truly one sweet-looking model, very glad I got it. One of the nicest 1:72 models in my collection, period.

This may have been discussed here already but do you think it will tarnish like the Corgi chrome models???? Doesn't look it will to me, but... be a shame to see it get all messed up.

Edit: just saw the messages below on the tarnish issue, hope it prooves true in the long run ...
