Re: Pics of Chrome F-104J

Very nice looking model. Very tempting indeed. With only 600 I guess these won't be around for long. Or will it?

I suspect this will sell reasonably fast - perhaps one month on the shelves (e.g. at The Flying Mule) at most (?)

Re: Pics of Chrome F-104J

Does anyone know if the real aircraft this is modeled after is significant for any particular reason other than it is Japanese?

I don't know...I think HM is just going for the brand new, fresh from the factory look. You can't get any more brand new lookin' than this one!

Re: Pics of Chrome F-104J

Attached are a few pictures I snapped with a small point and shoot digital (I am out of town and do not have my better camera). I'm afraid the shots really do not do this model justice and I debated whether to post these for fear of putting some collectors off.

The chrome finish is very attractive and the detail is quite nice. I did not attach the various bits but you do get the idea. Limited run of 600 pieces.

That chrome version is just crying out to be done in Canadian markings.

Thumbs up Re: Pics of Chrome F-104J

Met Mikeb today at phantomphans store Big Guns Collectibles and we each bought one of these. A magnificent plane to behold in person. Magnificent indeed!

Re: Pics of Chrome F-104J

I haven't even pulled mine out of the box yet. I need to swing by a pharmacy and get some white cotton gloves before I atempt to do so. I don't want to take ANY chances on marring that gorgeous finish!

Yeah I know what you mean. I have the chrome Creamer's Dream P-51.... it does not get handled at all.

The Chrome 104 is resistant to fingerprints. I've literally manhandled the one I have and the finish is still pristine (I just finished checking it again). It seems that it has a special protective coating. If you handle it with your bare hands it leaves a slippery feeling on your hands afterwards. IMHO, this 104 needs no special handling.

Great plane!
