Schemes for an F-4E?

There has been a lot of talk over on the UK Diecast Forum, where many of us found refuge among our British cousins while the Model Hangar was shut down, about potential schemes for an F-4E release-- lots of good schemes such as German, Japanese, Israeli, etc. All will be most welcome, if they are done, and I will probably buy a couple. However, I hope a Vietnam-era USAF F-4E (preferably with shark-mouth) finds its way to market and doesn't get lost in the shuffle of other releases. Not to appear greedy here, but I really want an F-4E in SEA camouflage and markings. And an F-4G Wild Weasel would not hurt either.

Re: Schemes for an F-4E?

Yes thread was started by me!

I'd certainly be up for SEA F-4E schemes, as well as the USAFE units such as the 32nd TFS (CR) at Soesterburg, 36th TFW Bitburg (BT), 52nd TFW Spangdahlem (SP), and 86th TFW Ramstein (RS). I think a late Spang F-4E in the Euro 1 colour scheme would look great too.

Re: Schemes for an F-4E?

If Euro 1 has the greys and greens on it, then I'm in. For some reason the US 70s era Phantoms do nothing for me. I want either Nam birds (USN/USAF), or those serving late in Europe. Especially the Wild Weasels. German and Isreali F4s interest me, but thats about it.

Here is...

...my schemes for an F-4F! Will not stop posting them before HM or whoever is so annoyed before at least one of them is being done. Would prefer the "Norm 81 B" scheme.

Or a Kai like this!

Norm 81B would be my choice for the F-4F too.

Muesingman,
Though my first choice is a USAF Vietnam F-4E, a German F-4F would be most welcome as well. I remember seeing some German F-4F's flying at the German Air Force training base at Holloman AFB in Alamogordo, NM, USA when I used to go down there for my work. I don't know whether there are any left there or not. Lately, when I have been in the area, I have only seen the German Tornadoes flying about. A few years ago, I could have sworn I saw a Mig 21 and a Mig 29 take off together through some foggy weather. Were these German as well?-- I just never heard of the Germans (or anyone else) having any Migs at Holloman AFB.

Errr...

...both types were German. The MiG-29 in both German Air Forces (most of it within the Luftwaffe) and the MiG-21 most of its time within the LSK/LV of the former GDR. Some MiG-21 flew within the Luftwaffe after German reunification for a very short time which is normally not worth mentioning until they were scrapped. The only one to whom it was not only worth mentioning but also making a diecast model of it, was HM. I would immediately have bought it if it had worn the GDR markings. But I complained about this in another thread already.

Back to Your question: I can quite imagine that You saw what You think that You´ve seen. But at least the MiG-21 cannot have been a German one anymore then. I could imagine that a MiG-29 from JG73 may have been on its way to an exercise mission with a MiG-21 from one of the "new NATO members" (Polish? Romanian?). Of course, non of them had its home base at Holloman. All the education the Luftwaffe´s MiG-29 took place at Laage.
