Re: Schemes for an F-4E?

You lived much closer to the good ol' USSR - much better for aircraft spotting.

These days, I drag my sons to every airshow I can get to in the summer to get my fix...

Re: Schemes for an F-4E?

hell I miss the Cold War! (well apart from having the threat of a nuke falling on my house! )

I know what you mean, there was just that something about it. Apart from the Nukes of course.

Well, with his Tu-95 patrols and sabre rattling, Putin is doing his part to help us re live those days....we just need to cooperate.

I am partial to a MO ANG F-4E. There is a gate guard at Lambert Airport and it looks very nice.

Re: Schemes for an F-4E?

I made the 1/48th Hasegawa kit of a New Jersey ANG jet about three years back. Only wish I'd gone for the camo rather than the Hill Grey scheme, still turned out ok though.

Re: Schemes for an F-4E?

Wish I'd done this one as it looks great. I've taken a real avertion to anything grey lately!

Re: Schemes for an F-4E?

I'm a bit partial to this one:

Aircraft 68-0338 (mig killer)

From Wikepedia:

Note: the last F-4 Phantom II aircraft flown by the Missouri Air National Guard was the same fighter that shot down two MiG-21 aircraft over North Vietnam and the same aircraft that flew the Phantom line's 10-millionth hour in January 1990. Today, it is gutted and mounted on a pedestal as a permanent exhibit in front of the Missouri Air National Guard's entrance near International Airport in Saint Louis

I also believe that the MO ANG was the last ANG unit to fly the F-4E.

Re: Schemes for an F-4E?

With the history of that machine, I think it's ripe for diecast then!
