Re: Schemes for an F-4E?

That camo is mainly used for air-sea operations. Ofcourse it doesn't work well in the european theatre where even the Channel looks grey but it works much better against the back drop of water that surrounds Japan. Their F-2's are painted in that scheme too, probably replacing the Phantom units with it.

I think I'm right in saying that some of their F-15C's are also painted in that blue scheme. It's very attractive too.

I don't think so. Primarily because of the role of the F-15. But there are JASDF Aggressor aircraft painted in blue as well. Though these are mostly 2 seater F-15's used for training the Pilots for air combat. Though they have a number of really nice colour paint schemes, but all the colours are painted over its standard grey.

Re: Schemes for an F-4E?

Here's an idea that'll make the SEA and Israeli guys happy, myself included. After the Yom Kippur war the Israelis needed to replace the F-4s they lost during the war, so the US sent F-4Es to the Israelis still in SEA camo. Some of the aircraft kept the SEA scheme up until the '80s. They were known as "Toads" due to the lovely green color. Sorry for the image quality, it was scanned out of my Isradecal "Colors and Markings of the Israeli Air Force."

Interesting stuff. I think many would still prefer the proper IAF scheme though, as it's the IAF camo that makes it so attractive.

Thanks Raven glad you like them.

For this you will need the following essential ingredients:

One copy of Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004.

Followed by one copy of the F-4F Phantom by Cloud 9 which can be obtained here: ....::: CLOUD9 :::.... Flight Simulation Developers Group -.

Seriously though, it's expensive but it's the best Phantom for FS bar none. You can download the three livery packs free of charge, you just pay for the base model.

Re: Schemes for an F-4E?

Just my luck - I have 6-7 flight and combat sims but not MFS 2004! Maybe I can pick up a copy someplace - some stores here have software bargin bins for $9.99 - maybe I'll get lucky.

Thanks for the info - I love the F-4! I grew up north of Selfridge ANG base in Michigan and saw those F-4C/D's over my house all the time.

No problem mate. You should get a good deal on FS9 now that FSX is out. My best advice is not to bother with FSX as its not a mature sim and from I gather it nothing but trouble. The Cloud 9 Phantom won't work properly on it anyway, and I don't think they're planning on an FSX upgrade anyway.

As a kid I grew up here in Suffolk in the UK and was surrounded by jets during the late 1970's and 80's, A-10A's from Bentwaters and Woodbridge, F-111F's from Lakenheath, Tornado's from RAF Honington, and RF-4C's from Alconbury, they were great days. I was lucky enough to be at Wattisham in the last three years of RAF Phantom operations there (hence my 56 Sqn and 74 Sqn Spook avatar!) and really miss the old girl, things went real quiet when they retired but I still have the great memories!

I was over at Lakenheath today watching the F-15's, and thought they're all grey, there's not much really happening compared to the old days, and hell I miss the Cold War! (well apart from having the threat of a nuke falling on my house! )
