Re: Schemes for an F-4E?

Or a Kai like this!

Norm 81B would be my choice for the F-4F too.

Hey PJ,

by the way: the camo effect of that Japanese "Kai" seems to be approximately ZERO, but I have to admit that it is nevertheless a real stunner !!!

Yeah you're right, but it's got to be better this!

Ok, thereŽs no way to make a plane look more "German"...

...but IŽd still prefer a normal camo livery.

Whoa - Acid Flashback time.....

That is an awesome scheme and while I might love it, I can't imagine it will sell. What is the history of that scheme? Thanks for posting the picture

It was the special scheme for "40 Years Hopsten Airbase", shown on JG 72´s open day on 08.09.01. But as I already said, I would prefer a normal camo scheme. I want something timeless for my shelf and a special / anniversary / Tiger Meet livery is anything else than that.

If it really has to be a special livery on a German F-4F (if You ask me, once again: NO), then HM, please do JG73´s 2001 one. It looks quite decent with all that blue and is the least of all "evils" (special liveries) in my eyes.

Yes it's very patriotic, and also sported a black F-104 on the underside. It's a very striking scheme, but to be honest I don't go much on anniversary schemes, they're aways out of date!

Re: Schemes for an F-4E?

I would like to see the 1st F-4's coming out in SEA markings in the markings of our ace's (for historical reasons). Then ya can go crazy after that with the different markings and colors.. They will all be great..

That camo is mainly used for air-sea operations. Ofcourse it doesn't work well in the european theatre where even the Channel looks grey but it works much better against the back drop of water that surrounds Japan. Their F-2's are painted in that scheme too, probably replacing the Phantom units with it.
