Mark me down for yes. The first of the Old Crow aircraft.

I can take umbrage, I can take the cake, I can take the A-Train, I can take two and call me in the morning, but I cannot take this sitting down. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to take five.

An Old Crow P-39 in 1:72 would be a plane I would definitely buy.

Re: Old Crow P-39 anyone else think so??

I would actually prefer to see another scheme other than "Old Crow". While I look forward to other US P-39 schemes, I prefer schemes that actually saw combat, or at least showed up in a combat zone. As far as I know, the 357th only trained on the P-39, and therefore the P-39 "Old Crow" would be a training scheme. For that reason, I am much more excited about the coming Guadalcanal P-400 than a potential "Old Crow" P-39. Instead, how about a USAAF P-39 in New Guinea or North Africa schemes.

Better yet-- how about an "Air-a-Cutie" as it appeared in New Guinea? That would be a great scheme, though it may be a little too risque for some. However, as it is such a spectacular scheme, I would expect everyone to want one of those. HM would sell a bunch of them.

Technically it's an operational, not a training scheme but it's a fair point kb. Still, it's the mount of a ace to be, and a famous one at that, and the scheme is pretty cool too with the squadron skull logo on the door, large ID numbers and red banded nose. As I said on another P-39 thread, I want it!

This is all i can find in my model file folder. I believe the word Old Crow is below the #152 from what i have been told
in the past.

Re: Old Crow P-39 anyone else think so??

I have a Hobbymaster P-39 on the way for this very purpose.
The interesting thing is, what is the correct paint scheme? So far I've found that it could be:
1. OD with a red stripe behind the prop,
2. OD with a red rudder and red stripe behind the prop,
3. OD with a red tail section and red stripe behind the prop, (the picture posted by JP appears to be this version. There is a faint line above the national insignia towards the tail. Could this be a demarcation line between red and OD? Or, are my eyes playing tricks on me?)
4. OD with a WHITE tail section and red stripe behind the prop.

All of the above were used by the 363rd FS at some point while they were in P-39s.

Not only that, but some decal sheets show the squadron logo as a blue background, some show a yellow background. Some show the skull from a side-view, another one shows the skull in a three-quarter view....Whew! Before all is said and done, I may end up e-mailing Jim Anderson (Bud's son) to see if I can get a definitive answer.

Let me know what you find out. As much as a new bird to add to the line up of other Old Crows would be great. I think you and I will have to do the conversion. It certianly would be better than a RAF bird that flew one mission before being scrapped.
