Cool Grumman F9F-2

There hasn't been much chatter on the forum about the Hobby Master release of the F9F-2, probably because it's still a pre-order due out in February, so I thought I'd put an oar in the water and see what ripples can be created. Unfortunately, when dealing with Navy or Marine aircraft of the 50s you're limited to blue, blue and, with luck, some gray color schemes. That said, and after considerable browsing, I'm gently suggesting that Hobby Master add the following to the future F9F releases.

F9F-2 [VF-111 - 101/V]; LCdr. Amen; USS Phillippine Sea; 11/09/1950 First Navy jet to jet air kill of a North Korean MiG-15. Interesting fact: Amen was flying a borrwed F9F-2 [VF-112 -209/V]. VF-111 got the credit, but VF-112 received the kill mark on their F9F.

F9F-2 [VF-781 - 114/D] 1st Lt. Midelton USS Bon Homme Richard 11/18/1952 Mig-15 kill. IAP pilot Pajonin killed.
Kill mark below cockpit/port side - 25 mission hash marks.

F9F-2 [VF-781 - 107/D] USS Oriskany October/November 1952 Nice red & white livery

F9F-2 [VMF-311 - 2/WL] Red & white nose trim. Korea 1952. Only USMC I could suggest.

F9F-5 [VF-192 - 209/B] Lt. Harry Brubaker USS Oriskany. Note: It's a F9F-5 and I don't see HM doling a separate mold for the "5".
Too bad, since Lt. Brubaker was the pilot shot down in the movie "The Bridges at Tloko Ri." He and the failed rescue chopper pilot, played by Mickey Rooney, survived as POWs.

Come on, Hawk, use your Nova Scotia smooth talking manner to get the job done.

I'll make sure Hobby Master sees the list but only if you promise not to think I'm a "Herring Choker", I'm from New Brunswick, not Nova S, I can't even bring myself to type the full name.

Re: Grumman F9F-2

Well the latest version on Hawks page is better, but the canopy still needs work: the curve at the top is missing, and the windscreen is still too large. The seams also need some tweaking around the nose, air intakes, and wing folds. Hopefully they'll catch, or have caught, all these. There are similar problems with the Corgi MiG-29: if you compare the Swift version with the East German version there is quite a difference in canopy size and seam fit (see Tricatus, of course!). On one hand (THIS one) it is great to see these pre-pros, because anyone can suggest changes (improvements?) -- and HM is listening; but on the other hand (THIS one), waiting to see if the final version really works is most nerve racking...

Yes - HM, please fix the shape of that canopy.
