| How about a 1/72 Spitfire Mk.22/24? As I think about it, and in addition to the Century Series fighters I would like to see from HM--- How about a Spitfire Mk. 22/24 in 1/72 scale? This is the last model of Spitfire and I always thought they were beautiful airplanes, in sort of a rugged, brutal sort of way. They could also probably do a Seafire Mk. 47 (I think that was the designation for the last of the Seafires). I think a last model Spitfire would be great. Another suggestion for HM. | |||||||||||||

| Re: How about a 1/72 Spitfire Mk.22/24? A good suggestion, many of us have been crying for Griffon Spits for a long time. There's a healthy market there for someone to jump on! I'm hoping Gemini or HM do.... | |||||||||||||

| Count me in for a couple of these too, i've posted a similar request in the Corgi section a few months back however the chances of them actually listening and geeting off their a s to give us one seem about nil. I have the HM 1/48's so far released & just love these Griffon birds - would dearly love to see HM or GA pick up the ball and run with these in 1/72. | |||||||||||||

| Re: How about a 1/72 Spitfire Mk.22/24? Hows about the Gryphon 85 contra prop MK 22 version, awesome power and real sleek looking with the cut down fuselage. | |||||||||||||

Actually, I think the Mk.22/24 Spitfire and the Mk. 47 Seafire were postwar. I don't think any of them saw service in WW2-- Can anyone confirm this one way or another? Maybe some saw service in Korea, but again I am not sure. Still, it is a great looking airplane-- sort of rugged, brutish and beautiful. Also, it is historic, being the last of the Spitfires. I would love to see HM release one of these.

You are correct, I think only Egyptian Mk.22s saw combat (Suez Crisis of 1956), but that's it. SeaFires saw very limited action at the end of WWII as well as early in Korean campaign. Don't know about Seafires in the French service. Regards, Sergey

| Re: How about a 1/72 Spitfire Mk.22/24?
I was thinking that there was a squadron of RAF Mk.24 Spitfires that had been based in Hong Kong that might have seen some action early in the Korean War. I can't say for sure-- not much more than an impression. Again, maybe someone can pipe in who really knows.
