It would be hard to win an argument or dogfight against it.................. ![]() ...and HM is my choice to do it since EI won't!

Have to agree, P-51D not really one of my top favorites. I can think of many more that spark more interest.

Perhaps on this side of the pond. I would think we'd get another perspective from our world wide membership. I like the P-51 but I grew up loving Spitfires. Interestingly I have more Mustangs (20) than Spitfires (15). I tend to collect Mustangs for the colour schemes and Spits for the drivers.

It's not necessarily my favorite fighter either but it was the best performing fighter overall don't you think? That's why it needs to be done well in diecast by HM. I really like the Wildcat oddly enough. It started and ended in the War.

| Re: A letter to Hobby Master If HM has to do a Mustang, I say do the P-51A. Gemini has the B/Cs down, and you can still get Dragon Ds. I wont even mention the other Ds out there. Still I'd prefer HM stick to WW2 USN birds. | |||||||||||||

| Re: A letter to Hobby Master
Excellent fighter yes, but there were definitely some real contenders out there. Duels in the Sky by Captain Eric M. Brown,RN is a fantastic book when it comes to a reference that covers the performance/comparison of WWII fighters. It is also a real enjoyable read too. My WWII favorites tend to be more oriented to the aircraft that were used in the early stages of the war. The ones I am interested in are not necessarily the sleek high performance types. Planes like the Gloster Gladiator flown by Pat Pattle, he achieved 15.5 Destroyed 4 Probably damaged and 4 more Damage while flying the Gladiator. WO Eino Ilmari Jutilainen scored 2 Destroyed in a Fokker DXXI followed up by 34 more destroyed in a Brewster Buffalo for a total 36 aircraft between these two earlier WWII aircraft (Of course he scored 58 more in a BF 109.). A score of 36 aerial victories is not to shabby in what normally would be considered obsolete aircraft, Shoot he came close to Richard Bongs mark of 40 while flying a Brewster Buffalo. Early part of WWII aviation history is usually brushed over for the latter part of the war, but opening stages of the war make for really interesting reading.

Shawn, I agree with you but I'm referring to a 1/48 scale P-51D.
