Post-Phantom Wish List

I think these would be a welcome addition to our diecast shelves. Hawk...what do you think the chances are for a production run?

Right on, conemaugh! Hawk1, please suggest these to be made. Thanks.

Which nations fly this type?

Re: Post-Phantom Wish List

I believe the operators were Northern Block -- Sweden (Air Force and Navy), Norway, Finland, Denmark, and Austria (Draken only).

The Viggen was only operated by the Swedish Air Force and Navy

Re: Post-Phantom Wish List

The Draken would be the best bet since it was exported, while the Viggen only served with Sweden.
Drakens, in addition to Sweden, served with Finland, Denmark, and Austria.

I hope that provides enough liveries.

Re: Post-Phantom Wish List

You're right on that point CavTanker. Let's consider the Corsair and Hellcat. We have many many blue-on-blues schemes of these with just variations in squadrons. Admittedly, the latter two have a much more devoted following then this Swedish pair. But the airframes are just too iconic to pass on.

Re: Post-Phantom Wish List

I will admit, they are unique aircraft designs. But, in what ways have these aircraft distinguished themselves in the aviation community?

Re: Post-Phantom Wish List

You got me on that one. These were primarliy intened for homeland security. I don't believe Sweden has had to defend it's borders in the last 40 years. The Viggen was designed for STOL to use the country's highways for runways in case of war.

Were they even deployed for peacekeeping (i.e. Balkans)?
