Re: Check Hawk One's site for F - 4

Because Corgi's are crap? Like most of their other products except for the handful of satisfactory ones.

You may have seen, I´ve put a smiley behind my question - of course I do know that Corgi´s are . Still don´t want any B, C, D or J, even if properly done!!!

Re: Check Hawk One's site for F - 4

I actually agree with Muesingman. I was very much expecting the F-4E or F, I do not really know why HM went for the short-nosed one.

I think it a sales strategy : if they had come up with the E first, then we would have rushed to buy it but if they then got the C out, we would all be full of Phantoms and would probably not buy it. However, this way, we will all rush to buy the C, and then when they issue the E, we will rush again. Smart...

So, I do not loose hope that the F-4E is coming sometime. That is the mould where HM can offer the most different models and hence make the most money, and the changes to the mould with respect to the existing C/D would not be greater than, for example, those they have had to make to the Skyhawk moulds to be able to produce the early A-4Bs with short nose and no hump, or the A-4M with long nose and hump.

In any case, to the best of my knowledge, only three countries other than the USA flew the F-4C/D ( Spain, South Korea and Iran ). HM, any chance of a Spanish AF F-4C ? They were 36 second hand USAF ones procured in the early seventies, and Spain did not bother to change the USAF camouflage, only the insignias, numerals and markings as needed. Hence it could be really easy to make one if you have already the USAF one...

I think it has to do with sales strategy as far as most customers from the U.S. really cried and begged for the short-nosed ones, obiously due to their famous combat missions over Vietnam. But thank You Saeta, You keep me hoping that HM could really make an "F" from the "D" mold with the obligatory changes. Of course, the chances for You to get a Spanish "C" might be a lot larger actually.

Boy, am I glad I didn't go Corgi-happy on the F-4's. I only bought one because I wasn't really that impressed. I do have six 1:48 and eight 1:100 Armour Phantoms, though. The HM's will be definitely be on the shelf soon. The Showtime 100 is a great choice, by the way.

I have to throw in with the crowd against the short nosed Phantoms, whoever makes them. I'll get the Cunningham and Ritchie versions. I'd like a better Robin Olds version while we're at it. And maybe just maybe a famous Jarhead's F4.
After that, I'm all about the later long nosed versions to include the Wild Weasel. Those I can relate to from my childhood. I wonder if this will calm the HM haters?

I am not "against the short nosed Phantoms"-- I like them all and I am thrilled to be getting both a USAF and a USN Phantom. I will also be delighted to see an F-4E come out. If I had to bet on it, I would put money on the prospect that an F-4E is coming. It would simply make good marketing sense for HM to do an "E" (or "F", for that matter). As has been pointed out, it was the F-4E that all sorts of countries used--Germany, Japan, Greece, South Korea, Iran, Israel, etc. I can't imagine that HM would choose to ignore these schemes and these markets. They have been responsive to our wants before, and I would imagine they will be here as well.

Don't get me wrong, I'm happy. Anything is better than the Corgi F4 with their awful pilots. I just like the later long nosed ones and the F4G Wild Weasel. Atleast the first two are of the original user nation.

Unhappy Re: Check Hawk One's site for F - 4

I'm happy to admit that after seeing Dogfights I'd be very happy to have Olds, Ritchie and Cunningham F4s. That said, I'd bitterly disappointed that we not getting the F4E/F/G. A missed opportunity I think. Maybe it is clever marketing, after all, Gemini is focussing on British subjects and we'd all still want the F4E. We've been asking for the F4E directly and indirectly in many threads. Disappointed am I.

Re: Check Hawk One's site for F - 4

Btw, Ritchie flew an "F-4E" and got 2 MiG-21 Kills on that as well. So there...HM why not do S.R.'s F-4E variant as well?!!!

Smile Re: Check Hawk One's site for F - 4

BTW I have three Corgi F4s. Why are we so harsh when they were the first to give us a 1/72 diecast Phantom. Yes, the mold may not be the greatest but for a long time that was all we could get in 1/72. Yes time marches on and molds get better but I think it's a bit unfair to compare the old stuff to the new. I would expect the new molds to be better.

Re: Check Hawk One's site for F - 4

The F-4 is my favorite jet of all time. I purchased every one made by Corgi because it was all there was aside from Armour. I have sold off all but a spare Woodbridge (TM special) It displays well but is not IMHO well done. I hate the bobafett/robocop pilots too. Weapons lack all detail etc it is too toyish. I knock Corgi because they have shownwhat they can do and continue to be inconsistant and not listen to the customers. Lately Corgi has shown improvement. It just seems HM is getting straight to the point (in most cases). Hm is kinda flooding the market but so has Corgi in the past. If the Phantoms are good they can Flood away and i wil be poor with a huge collection. Perhaps Cw will do the later model Phantoms wouldn't that be grand?

I will always buy Corgi, but I think i have earned the right thousands of dollars later to be critical. Like a parent or teacher that tells you they know you can do better.

Showtime 100 HURRAY!!!!!!

Didn't Corgi cancel that one a loooong time ago?
