Talking Re: Slideshow Review -- HM Bf-110 HA1801

Gee, be a “Snowbird” on the road for a few days, add a malfunctioning laptop and pretty soon you’re way behind the information curve. When I got online I headed directly for my favorite forum and what to my wondering eyes should appear but a thread on Hobby Master’s Bf-110. I read/viewed Pappy B’s post and started to read the follow-up postings. And then I read the posts again, and then re-read them a third time. For a panicked second or two I thought I signed onto the U.K. Diecast Aviation site. Nope! Turns out TMH has one or two over-the-top, jump-the shark, put them out of business experts lurking in the weeds. On reflection, there’s only one who fits the bill and he know who he be.
fficeffice" />>>
I’m retired, have too much free time on my hands, so I went back to the thread and tried to break down the (+) – (-) posts. On the plus side it’s Pappy B to the defense; at least 14 times to justify a post that absolutely needs no defense. Fortunately, he has some strong support: Shawn 507; Cruver Collector; KB486; Epap and Raddager to name out of 5/12
responders.
>>
I counted approximately 20 who were not overwhelmed by what they saw; and only one who believes members of this select group should be able to purchase $15,000.00 museum quality die cast aircraft for $14.95. TOPS!!! Otherwise, throw the rascals out and destroy a fine collecting hobby. Contributors, such as Hworth; Parsig; Tyler109; landslide FlyXWire and Starman all have legitimate points; however, I’ve never read a post where any of the above have ever savaged a manufacturer to the point where it’s better to get out of the business, and it’s a business regardless of what the academically minded might believe or teach, than to be told “Unless you shape up to my unattainable standards I’m never going to purchase a piece of your crap.” How Jr. High, how naive.
>>
Constructive criticism is needed. Hell, even I drop a line occasionally stating my complaints/concerns. Pulling the trigger because the Green is a shade off, or the cockpit framing is 1/10,000th to large for the scale will kill this hobby. Think not? Some die cast makers are already pulling back in the U.K. If Corgi goes wheels up, the rest will soon follow suite. Did I kidnap this thread? I hope not, because if the center doesn’t hold (that’s us), die cast collecting will be something we will all be missing down

Re: Slideshow Review -- HM Bf-110 HA1801

I'm looking forward to getting this bird. I want a 110 for each of the main uses the 110 was put to during the war; heavy escort fighter, fighter bomber, Defense of the Reich heavy fighter and night fighter. The HM 'G' versions covers the latter two missions, Corgi's upcoming 'C' the first, and the IXO wasp rendition the second (although I opted out on the IXO as I'm hoping Corgi or HM will get around to making one).

Re: Slideshow Review -- HM Bf-110 HA1801

This ME-110 in both schemes IMHO are very worthy editions. They may have faults but that will not in most cases put me off. In my view if looks like a duck, quacks like a duck, then it is a friggin' duck!! If we as a forum put forward all our favourite aircraft that we would like to see done by manufacturers and then slag the crap out of them when they are released then there is only one outcome in my opinion. A much lower common denominator will ensue with makers only releasing certain 'bankers' and staying well clear of 'exotic' releases. I don't feel that any of us want to go back to those days.

Re: Slideshow Review -- HM Bf-110 HA1801

I have seen the IXO version and its not good, the HM effort looks to be a huge improvement.

I am a fan of HM although I have criticised their heavy panel lines in the past.

I have to admire a company that can produce such quality as the Dauntless and the Buffalo so I for one will wait until I see this model before making any comment.

Re: Slideshow Review -- HM Bf-110 HA1801

Yes they are different molds. If it's not one of the former 6 or 8 Predators then Hobby Master has nothing to do with it.

Thanks for that one, Hawk

I'm guessing then, by what you say, that the 'Predator' Dauntless is by H.M. too = looks superb !!!!!!!!

I loved the H.M. Dauntless so much, I bought x 3 before Christmas....... (3-tone, 'Torch' & 'Midway')

None too sure in advance whether Corgi's '110 will be better - if it comes out as good, or as well as their Lysander or Swordfish, then I would be impressed
