Re: Slideshow Review -- HM Bf-110 HA1801

Need to see one close up to may real firm call on it, but from what I see it will make a nice addition. Just curious, do you have to put the aileron balance horns on or did they come attached? Reason I am asking is because it looks like the port wing balance horn is on backwards. Shame, but it looks like they completely backed off of the panel lines. Perfectly clean models look to toy like.

The horns come pre-attached. As for the wash, it looks a bit like HM is in a can't win position on those. I do think there is a wash, a light one that's not so evenly applied -- if you look at the inside surfaces of the stabs for instance you can see evidence of a wash, but it's looks absent elsewhere -- perhaps hawk can shed some light on the wash strategy with this model??

Re: Slideshow Review -- HM Bf-110 HA1801

Oh.. Where to start.......

My major issues would be in the cockpit area (thick canopy frame, plain tail guns, huge mounting holes for canopy), the overly deep panel lines and the fuselage paint which just doesn't appeal to me.. And to be honest, the underside accessories just don't look right, with overly thick plastic bits (rocket tubes and mounts, fuel tanks, radiator housings), and the gun pack which doesn't look like it fits, although the landing gear does look good..

And just to add, the only thing I have against HM is that they are flooding the market much like Dragon did, which is not good for the hobby.. I like HMs planes and have quite a few of them, and IMHO, this release doesn't meet up to their typical standard.. A diecast manufacturer should be making strides forward, not taking steps backwards...

Hmmmm, I hear you but would argue perhaps that these issues have been pretty consistent with HM from day one? (Panel lines, holes for the canopy frames, and the accessories have never been very polished in my opinion -- I don't see this as a step backwards myself. Perhaps just not the great advance many have hoped?)

Again, ignorance probably saves me in regard to the fuselage paint -- anyone have a link to some model pics that show it the way "it should be" ??

Any chance of posting a shot that shows under side of the wing? I would really like to see it they did put that piece on backwards. If so, this is definitely something that needs to be passed on to Hawk.

They do look backwards don't they -- this what you wanted?

Yep the aileron balance horn is facing the wrong way. Balance weight is supposed to be facing forward. This is something that really needs to be forwarded to Hawk. Picture below shows the aileron balance horn in the proper position being angled forward an not to the rear. If anyone has Hawks ear, they might want to pass this one on. Definitely an oops.

I sent a VFR direct message to them via the Hobby Master Collector page using their feedback responce. I took a close look at the pictures they had posted, and they were backwards too. Surprised they made an error like this, but it would seem to be fairly easy to correct.

Pappy, this is just my opinion and nothing more.. I also posted my concerns (as did others) when the pre-pros came out and nothing was ever done (as I feared).. However, HM has shown in the past that they will improve upon their product, so there is still hope..

Here are some pics of a more "blended" fuselage scheme as it should be, not so defined as on the HM 110..

Re: Slideshow Review -- HM Bf-110 HA1801

Ah, thanks Harry -- I see what you mean now in regard to the paint... I'll weigh all this a big more and note it all in the online review. These slideshows are kind of my "quick-hit, first impressions.." In the future, I probably won't label them as reviews or post scores, we shall see. They're also a chance to solicit input and feedback from those, such as yourself, that are more knowledgable about particular aircraft. So thanks for posting those pics. One of the many reasons this is such a great place to hang out!

Re: Slideshow Review -- HM Bf-110 HA1801

I'll wait for Corgi too. Love those 190s. I don't have either of those 3 And the Rudel Stuka is the best one I think. Always said I'd stick with the Armour one but now..........

Darn you anyway! What great pictures!

Hehe.. "sorry" Parsig.... I sold my FM Rudel Stuka earlier this year as I wasn't happy with the finish -- some sloppy paintwork on my example. So I didn't like it enough to put up with storing the big box it came in... I'm very happy with Dragon's effort as a replacement. And those three 190s may be my favorite Dragon 190s... but I like pretty much all of 'em, really. Strange how some are some much more "fiddly" than others!

Re: Slideshow Review -- HM Bf-110 HA1801

Pappy,

Great slide show. I especially liked seeing the SpecCast planes. I might try to get one.

Two of Spec's finest IMHO -- love the finish on them... and $9 each on ebay a couple months back, too.
