Re: Review of the HM MIG-21

Thanks for the explanation, hawkonevoodoo, as always!!!!!!
We are a consumer and don't know what happen at the top level dealing, I don't even know that HM has another distributor if you don't bring it up.
In a normal business sense, I think HM should have request the new distributor take over the inventories from the old distributor. But hey, that is just my opinnion, we will never know what happen among them, and I don't really care what happen, I just want some good stuff to buy at reasonable price.
By the way, I hope the cost to the distributor is not $4.99.

No, $4.99 isn't the distributors cost, it's higher.

To find out what is going on with Hobby Master models, distributors, new releases and whatever else, I suggest you check my Hobby Master News page occasionally. What I find out is posted there.

Re: Review of the HM MIG-21

Hi All,

This is my first post on this forum although I often post on the 'other forum'.

I have posted a full review of the HM MIG-21 on my website. It can be found at Mechanical Thunder Aviation Photography |. It is avaliable in either word or PDF format and is quite large as it is five pages long covered in images. To download right click on your selected version and choose 'Save Target As'. Save the file to a temporary location and as soon as the download finishes you will be able to view the review.

Many thanks!

Mark

Great review - and beautiful pics on your website. With that checkering on the '21 it reminded me of the hours of watching the Croatian MIG's flying CAP's south of Pleso. Looking forward to more pleasing reviews..... ...

Re: Review of the HM MIG-21

If these people selling Hobby Master for these extremely low prices are retailers who buy from Hobby Master Distributors and Hobby Master finds out who they are they will be banned from buying their models. Hobby Master has an MSRP and if they don't go by these they will find themselves not getting any models. This is also to protect your investment so the price that you paid won't be 3 times higher than the next guy and it will keep the value of your model higher. If you know who these people are that are under sellling the products and you want, you can PM me. You might be able to buy a model for $9 that should sell for $20 but if this continues there won't be any products and what you have will be worth zero.

Problem in Europe, within the the EC, there is no such thing as MSRP. It isn't legal. It is looked at as some sort of cartel activity. Every link in the distribution chain is supposed to estimate their mark-ups according to their own needs - and wishes - market permitting. That said, looking at the HM quality, the MIG-21 ought to cost at least 30 dollars retail. Between us and the supplier - factory or producer - there are usually at least two levels - a distributor/importer and the retailer.

However, when offered a genuine product at half its real price - it is difficult to resist.
