New metal from Hobby Master

All Righty! With Hawkonevoodoo's new Hobby Master release list only days/weeks away. How about a little specuation on our part of what we might see or hope to see in the coming year. We/I know there's going to be an F-4 and a UH-1 ( B,C,M,D or H model.) What else might we see in the way of NEW METAL?
Anyone want to take a shot/guess. Let's have some fun.

Re: New metal from Hobby Master

An OS2U Kingfisher in 1/48 scale. It's a natural for Hobby Master:
  • They are great at details (canopies etc);
  • The've mastered the paint and markings of colorful prewar USN aircraft;
  • They like producing multi-national planes, the OS2U served the following nations-
    • British
    • USN
    • Soviet Union
    • Australia
    • Chile
    • Argentina
    • Uruguay
  • The Kingfisher is one of those birds that wore four distinct schemes for the USA alone-
    • Prewar yellow/silver
    • 1940 overall light grey
    • 1941-42 dark blue top/ white undersides
    • 1943 tri color
  • The plane is small and therefore, the costs would be lower;
  • Few external changes with the variants;
  • Carried ordnance / saw combat;
  • Would be popular with diecast enthusiasts and never produced in 1/48;
  • The Kingfisher was also active as a fixed-landing gear scout variant.
I would humbly suggest a USS ARIZONA version right off. Sounds like a winner to me!

Re: New metal from Hobby Master

Have to go with the P-36/Hawk 75 series in that it would be a great candidate for a model in either 1/48th or 1/72nd scale. One it is a nice looking aircraft and two, well it has a fairly exstensive list of possible paint schemes also retractable verses fixed landing gear versions. The list of possible paint schemes would actually be pretty impressive to include Great Britain, China, Netherlands, Norway, United States, Thialand, Finland, France, and Vichey France. Some possible schemes could be : Pearl Harbor P-36s of Lt Rasmussen & Lt. Brown, French ace 2Lt Edmond Marin La Meslee's Hawk 75A-3 (16 confirmed victories and 4 probables), and Finish ace 2Lt Kalevi Tervo's Hawk 75A-3 (15.5 victories in Hawk 75).

I'd like one also, but dream on ARA 1, dream on. Better you should wish for a Boeing P-26 (Peashooter) or a Curtiss P-36.

That would make for a great 1/48th scale model.

Ditto. It's right up their alley and I'd love to see what they'd produce for their French versions. We need a major diecast company to go there in 1/48.

Re: New metal from Hobby Master

I'm hoping to see an F-5E Freedom Fighter or a F-100 Super Saber. any Century series sans the F-104 would be nice. F-80 Shooting Star. P-61 Black Widow Me-410 to name just a few.

Well, that would make a very nice model, but considering how many other subjects are yet to be made in 1/48 (or 1/72) in diecast, that sure does NOT rank very high on my scale right now.

I'd rather follow Cruver Collector's lead and go with the Curtis Hawk 75/P-36, or lanslide and his P-39 request (yes, I know, it's coming in 1/72, but it needs to be done in 1/48).

Or: Typhoon in 1/48.

Or: any Russian WW II fighter in 1/48. Talk about a neglected category...

Post Re: New metal from Hobby Master

I would go along with FVDs suggestion for a 1:48 Typhoon Corgi have done quite a good job in 1:72 scale bur it would look so much more impressive in 1:48
My future wish list for 1:48 HMs are listed below.

P-47D
P-51D
Fw 190A
Bf109-G
Me-262
He-162
Hurricane
