Be still, my beating heart!! What a beautiful model!! How can I wait until April for this??? Thanks for posting the pics, Hawk! This model will be stunning.

BTW... it appears the rearview mirror is painted (yeah!) I hope the low seated pilot issue will be sorted out.

Hawk, do you know what the ltd. ed. run will be?

Have a look at the history of the SBD Dauntless that HM is releasing in 1/32 (2nd 'yellow wing' release) - survived Pearl Harbour and Midway, then submerged for decades after an accident and now restored and on display in Pensacola ... that is one tough and lucky veteran that truly deserves to be immortalised in diecast .

So very true-- SBD-2 No.2106 was and is a remarkable plane. It was remarkable how complete and well-preserved it was when it was pulled from the dark, fresh-water depths of Lake Michigan. Now, it has been beautifully restored in the colors it wore at Midway and is on display at the Naval Aviation Museum at Pensacola, Florida. This is a museum which is definitely worth visiting. They also have a beautifully restored SBD-3 No. 6508 on display which served on the USS Enterprise CV-6 and also served as part of the "Cactus Air Force" on Guadalcanal during 1942. It was also pulled from Lake Michigan in remarkably good condition and then beautifully restored and put on display. I strongly recommend a visit to the Navy's aviation museum in Pensacola. There is an incredible collection of aircraft on display, many rare and unique. It is also free!-- at least it was when I was there last.

It's not a LE. but they aren't flooding the market with them.
