Re: P-39 Release -- any news?

I got my two P-39s today from Aim Higher Jets and they look great! As usual, they arrived in perfect condition - thanks Jeff! I've been wanting this plane for a long time. I still want it in 1:48 scale though.

Re: P-39 Release -- any news?

I've ordered my Devil from Pete's, he is the closest to me. I like TFM, but a week to get from one coast to another kills me. I hate waiting.

I order from TFM usually, though occasionally hit up diecastairplanes or jetways or eztoys or adamjets or...well, you get the idea. But I prefer TFM for my 1/72 because they are West Coast and I can get the shipment in two or three days, well boxed. However, I wonder what is holding up the availability of these planes at TFM...maybe their shipment is coming from the OTHER coast...and what about all those other December releases, Corgi, Witty, etc? The December releases seem to be arriving at an even more glacial speed than usual. I hate waiting...

Re: P-39 Release -- any news?

These are starting to trickle into TFM now. Look under Coming Soon/Expected This Month (Dec) until they get listed under New Arrivals. This may be the day! Looking forward to putting in an order (pant, pant).

Just got a shipping notification from the Mule. Both P-39s are on the way.

Re: P-39 Release -- any news?

I just received my P-39 "Deveil" yesterday from Aiken's (along with three other HM's ). The P-39 is fairly nice model - everything fit together well except for the tiny nose wheel door. The door took some filing and glue to make it fit properly. Other than that everthing fits tight. The panels lines are a bit heavy; a bit like IXO. But still worthy of a place on the shelf.

Check out RockJock in the classifieds section. He has a great price on them, and he is very fair on shipping.

Re: P-39 Release -- any news?

Just recieved my Pokryshkin (sp?) P-39 last night and I like it a lot. The black panel lines aren't too offensive on the dark green upper surface, but have to admit they look a bit "IXO-ish" on the light underside. I know HM is working on a solution to this, and if they have to paint them at all (I'd prefer not), I hope they move to a semi-transparent grey that looks more like a wash than solid lines.

One really cool feature, and this may not be news to a lot of you, but the pilot figure is removable (actually comes in the bag of accessories). Well done HM for being the first to give us that option!!

So HM, how about Bud Anderson's 'Old Crow' P-39? I appreciate some may have had enough of 357th schemes, but this is a nice looking bird with the big ID numbers and squadron 'skull' patch on the cockpit door. And, since it was based about a dozen miles from my house I have to have it!
